((1700 Somewhere Beach Bar, Risa))

Thankfully, Alroyo had bumped into Commander Dakora with the promise of getting drinks still fresh in her head. And with some gossip on her mind she waved over a Risian bartender to start their order.

Lyara: I’ll have the Daughter of a Son of a Sailor. ::She looked to Dakora:: You?

Dakora: Uhh… I'll do the Latitude Changer. ::He held up two fingers:: and two doubles of your best Bajoran Whiskey.

It seemed he had remembered the specific request for Bajoran Whiskey back on the Bird-of-Prey. Alroyo raised a playful eyebrow as he casted a glance and shrugged.

Dakora: It was your idea…

The Risian nodded then walked off to make their drinks as Alroyo turned to Talos.

Lyara: Soooo, I bumped into Sam Richards last shore leave. Did ya’ get a chance to meet her?

A slight smile crept across her face after she inquired about his secret girlfriend. He probably didn’t even have to read her mind to guess where the little inquiry would go.

Dakora: I did. Yes. ::He tossed back the last of the beer he'd been nursing and set it back on the bar.:: She's a nice girl, though I actually met her back around Frontier Day. How do you two know each other?

Oh he met her around Frontier Day? Must have been fate weaving the two together, or a shared experience that brought them close. Strangely romantic in a messed up sense when she thought about it.

Lyara: I met her after we went out for drinks with Sil, she had made him a toga to parade in. And then later in her visit I helped her get ready for a date…

Alroyo gave him a knowing glance. It felt a little mean digging into him like this, but it was all for fun and a little gossip. He turned to face her and leaned against the bar, she could sense she was close to uncovering the full truth.

Dakora: I see. I uh… I don't suppose she mentioned me? ::His smirk returned.:: We're, sort of involved.

There it was, straight from the verdanis’ mouth. She gave him a big smile and a friendly pat on the arm.

Lyara: Oh my Prophets, I’m so happy for y’all!

The bartender returned with their drinks, both very showy cocktails but while Talos’ had an umbrella in it, Lyara’s had an Old Earth fishing boat. Along with the drinks were the two doubles of Bajoran Whiskey, her favorite.

Dakora: What about you? You have someone waiting for you at home? Or are you one of those married-to-her-job types?

Alroyo let out a soft sigh as she grabbed her cocktail and placed it in front of her. Prophets, she wished she had a certain someone waiting for her at home, or at least waiting for her period. But that ship had sailed.

Lyara: Married to nothing at the moment it’s… well… I believe there's a phrase from the man who inspired this bar. “Some people claim that there’s a woman to blame.”

oO But I know, it’s my own damn fault Oo

Alroyo picked up her Bajoran Whiskey Talos slid across the bar to her. She’d leave it at that when it came to talking about Lee. Or at least until the next round.

Dakora: I’ll drink to that. ::He raised his shot glass.:: In good faith!

Alroyo raised the glass in a toast.

Lyara: To fortune and good health!

Alroyo threw her head back and swallowed the contents of the glass in one gulp, as was tradition according to her family. Although sweeter (and higher proof) than most whiskeys of other cultures, it still had that spicy kick as if someone had poured the perfect amount of chili powder into it. While traditionally the drink would be distilled without spice to act as a disinfectant during the occupation days, Bajorans did what they did best and added spices to it. Which was a great way to keep a modern Bajoran woman’s mind off her much less serious troubles in comparison.

She stifled the cough that roared inside of her and did her ancestors proud by not flinching as the warmth of the drink spreaded through her system.

Dakora: Response

Alroyo signaled to the bartender to get them another round as she reached for her cocktail and took a sip. A relief washed over her as the drink put out the fire that was roaring in her mouth and chest from the spices.

Lyara: That wasn’t replicated either. It almost got me. ::She let out a giggle:: I’ll have to see if I can somehow get a bottle home with me.

Dakora: Response

The Bajoran woman took another sip from her drink then spoke.

Lyara: So commander, now that you and Sam are an item, your time on Risa a little more tame?

A roundabout way to ask “are you two exclusive” but she wanted to hear more about the happy couple and their plans considering they were whole quadrants apart.

Dakora: Response

She sipped her drink again and moved the toy boat in it in circles with her straw. Her next question might be a little awkward, but she was a little concerned about the distance between the two considering how new their relationship was. Alroyo had stopped pursuing a relationship that would still be in the same quadrant if they stayed together, but 75,000 light years? That made her and Lee’s problem look like a walk down the street in comparison.

Lyara: And I hope you don’t mind me asking but, how’s the whole “beta quadrant to delta quadrant” thing gonna work for you two? I imagine it’s a little hard to start a relationship that far apart.

She hoped the worries of a past relationship didn't linger on her voice as she took a nervous sip of her drink.

Dakora: Response
