(( The Shaded Roads - Central District Underground, Fereng, Ferenginar ))
Within the Roads, Tamio walked by storefront and storefront filled with odd Ferengi knick-knacks, seeking out some new inventory for the - thus far - abysmally minimalist office. They paused at a specific storefront, carrying a wide variety of art pieces, including some traditional Ferengi sculptures that Tamio couldn’t figure out whether depicted a particularly well-shapen asteroid, or half a Ferengi head.
K’Wara: Hmmmm…
Then, from somewhere to their side, a female voice announced itself.
Brexis: Are you also in the market for something to put on your shelf and look at to remind yourself that maybe Ferenginar is the best place to get vaguely suggestive looking statues? ::Chuckling:: Or just me?
Tamio smiled, looking to their side at the friendly-sounding woman. The uniform immediately stood out and for a moment, Tamio considered whether their appraisal of the seminar’s effect had been exaggerated, but the pips designated her as a JG, so at least they didn’t have to ship her back to the Ship immediately to satisfy their promise to Ilio.
K’Wara: Ah, not quite, though that’s an interesting suggestion. ::eyes the stranger:: You’re particularly lobeless yourself, I note. ::reaches out their empty hand:: Tamio K’Wara.
The blonde reciprocated their handshake, evidently familiar with the human custom.
Brexis: Charlotte Brexis. My friends call me Lottie. ::gesturing to the statue:: And depending on whether you buy that hideous thing or not depends on if we can be friends.
‘Charlotte Brexis’ - a peculiar enough name, especially for a full Betazoid - so Tamio remembered her. Or, well, they remembered her transfer form. A new Strategic Ops Officer, one of the youngest Tamio had ever seen in that position in their career. Whether that was a sign of cunning or a sign of sycophancy, however, remained to be seen.
K’Wara: ::quiet voice:: Knowing this place’s reputation, it’s a broken piece of children’s pottery being passed off for a national treasure. ::normal voice:: You in the market for some souvenirs? Or some sightseeing of the most ill-reviewed tourist locations on Ferenginar?
Brexis: I overheard someone talking about this place. I had to see if it ::looking around:: looked and smelled ::breathing in the air:: like they described. So far it seems on par with ‘dark, musty and the hint of regret in the air’.
Tamio thought that was a pretty accurate description of the place, even if it underselled the allure of the locale. Quite on purpose, they figured, to make it seem not as enticing to rebellious tourists who thought they knew better than the Federation Travel Advisory. They didn’t know what that thought said of them, but alas, introspection had never been one of their fortés.
K’Wara: I see you read the standard tourist brochures. ::smirks:: The Roads are more fun than those make it out to be, though definitely a place where you make sure to have a couple of extra pursestrings as a precaution.
Charlotte picked up another sculpture that caught her eye, and Tamio applied the best poker face they were capable of. Thankfully, their career had given them plenty of opportunities to practice it.
Brexis: Oh come on, ::rolling her eyes:: They aren’t even trying to be subtle with this one.
K’Wara: Interesting mushroom. I think that’s a miniature version of the giant shrooms in the Kellaping Marsh. They inspire a lot of artwork.
Most of it not particularly tasteful, but to each their own. Tamio preferred their own sculptures anyways.
Brexis: So, what brings you down here to this… ::eyeing a Ferengi store owner:: Eclectic side of town?
K’Wara: Out for some new decorations for my walls. Recently got some new ones; figured the best way to find some more unusual knick-knacks was to get away from the tourist traps.
Brexis: Response
K’Wara: Absolutely not, I have standards. ::grin:: There needs to be at least a primary, secondary and tertiary color on it before I’ll consider it.
Nuance was the spice of life!
Brexis: Response
Tamio started walking along the street, perusing the different shop windows as they sought out something interesting and colorful enough to warrant a closer look, which was a pretty tall ask for the normal markets, and probably more so for the underground bazaar that catered more to the particular tastes than the ‘all-you-can-see-and-afford’ buffet above ground.
K’Wara: Have you been on Ferenginar before, or did you decide to jump in at the deep end on your first visit?
Brexis: Response
