((Geology lab, Deck 9, USS Artemis))
This was… not at all what Jovenan had expected to happen when Doctor Jaran had paid her a visit. The analyzation of the rocks had gone just fine, they had had a pleasant chat about their respective pasts and even briefly about their beliefs, the experiment had been a success, and now she was on her all fours, crawling across the laboratory. It wasn’t a disaster, no one was in immediate danger as of currently, but it was pretty uncomfortable for everyone and embarrassing for her. The lightning strikes from the thin layer of purple clouds forming above them, hitting the rocks in what used to be the containment area, was rather loud, too. Reaching the closet, she studied the shelves for a moment, running through bottles and containers before finding what she was looking for.
Jovenan: Spray this to the clouds. It’ll condense them and make them rain down.
The Doctor accepted the bottle and sprayed the liquid. The clouds began condensing immediately upon contact with it, looking like they were melting. The purple rain fell to the floor and tables and all other surfaces that happened to be under the clouds. Last few strikes were more muffled and powerless, before the miniature thunder ceased and the laboratory fell silent.
Jaran: What we wouldn't have given for a giant bottle of this a couple weeks ago.
True, although given their state on the planet, Jovenan’s list of what she would have wanted to have on Callis was rather long, and even then the plasma storm cloud condensing agent was very low in there.
Jovenan: Good thing there weren’t any of these clouds on the planet after you picked up the rocks. These lightnings are vicious!
The Doctor chuckled and reached for a tabletop, splashing the liquid that had rained on it. Jovenan rose up too, looking around the laboratory from the new perspective. There was a lot of purple liquid everywhere. It was a mess.
Jaran: It's a good thing Lt. Imril didn't realise I'd held onto the rock as long as I did. They're scarier than the lightning.
Jovenan: Yeah… We’re going to need special containment procedures for it. Computer, laboratory emergency over, return to normal status.
The computer acknowledged the order, and Jovenan continued to evaluate the state of the lab. She’d need to take the lab out of service at least for a day for a proper cleaning and inspection of damage. The shield generator for the sample alcove needed changing, and who knew if the devices had taken damage from the rain; they were supposed to be water-resistant, but this wasn’t all water, so some might seep in. Better to be sure. She’d also need to file a report on the close-call. It was good that they could stop it before anyone would get hurt, but it shouldn’t have happened at all. The weirdness Starfleet officers witnessed frequently really blinded one to the unexpected powers even the small rocks had.
Jaran: So. ::beat:: Can I help clean up or anything?
Jovenan: Hmm? No, no, it’s alright. It’s better leave it to the professionals. ::smiles:: Thank you for bringing the rocks to me. It was fascinating, despite all the… ::gestures around the room::
The Doctor glanced at the rocks once more before shaking their head and heading towards the door.
Jaran: Thanks for taking that last bit of Callis off my hands, at the very least. And for the talk. If you ever want to revisit any of it, let me know. You wouldn't be the first non-Bajoran I've counselled on spiritual matters, you know.
Jovenan raised her eyebrows. Religion and philosophy of that sort wasn’t something she thought about often, but she didn’t deny that it was interesting to share her viewpoints with someone. Doctor Jaran, with their Bajoran monastic background of course had different beliefs and traditions than her, but at the same time, there were similarities between the Edo and Bajoran faiths, at least so she viewed it. Perhaps there was still something to talk about. She smiled and nodded.
Jovenan: I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you.
