(( Corridor to Tertiary Command Processors - Deck 15 - USS Artemis-A ))
As soon as the cavalry had arrived, Talos had capitalized on the confusion and surged toward the impostor version of his Captain and friend.
They crashed into the wall and a savage struggle for control of the phaser in her hand ensued. He could see the responders in his peripheral vision, studying the scene.
Dakora: She’s not our MacKenzie! ::He grunted, trying to keep her phaser hand in a safe direction.:: Stun her!
He kept his hand locked around her wrist, sacrificing good positioning to keep the dangerous end away from himself and any of the friendlies. He paid for being caught out of position; as Colonel MacKenzie landed blow after blow to his ribs with her other fist.
MacKenzie: He’s lying! He’s their Dakora!!
That was the point that Talos realized he’d had about enough of these doubles. He was tired of worrying about who was who and if any given person was who they claimed to be. As the Vulcan barked an order, a novel plan formed in his head.
Kawarda: Both of you, weapons down and step away from each other.
It was a nice thought, but he’d seen the Colonel disintegrate one person too many today. Talos made another attempt to wrestle the phaser away and opened himself up to a brutal knee strike right in a particularly sensitive area.
He groaned and stumbled, his grip momentarily slipping from the vice-like hold he'd previously held.
Dakora: Stun both of us and sort out who’s who later! ::He spoke through gritted teeth.:: That’s an order!
MacKenzie: I outrank him! He’s not our Dakora – he killed Jovenan, and he’ll kill the rest of us if you don’t incapacitate him!
This version of Addison sucked. Confirmed. She lied and cheated with an ease that he found particularly scummy.
For a moment the responding Ensigns hesitated. Talos continued his effort to keep control of the phaser, even as Bad-Addison stomped her foot down hard across his instep.
MacKenzie: Let go of me!!
To his surprise, it was Chevalier, not Kawarda who finally decided to act.
Chevalier: You argue wrong robot, captain…
Things began to happen very quickly at that point. The Colonel managed to slip free from his grasp, pulling away a bit, just as a stream of stun energy from Chevalier's phaser took her square in the center of mass.
She crumpled to the floor and Talos teetered back a few steps, trying to catch his breath.
He glanced in Chevalier's direction as he approached the downed Desdemona Captain, assuming he was about to secure her with restraints. His mouth fell open as he witnessed the pale, long-locked Ensign fire another shot into the clearly already pacified Colonel MacKenzie.
Chevalier: Just to be sure…
Kawarda tried to reign him in.
Kawarda: It would appear the situation is under control now. Stand down, Ensign Chevalier.
Talos' brows furrowed as he eyed the Artemis newest arrival in disbelief.
Dakora: Yeah! What the hell was tha-
Kawarda interjected.
Kawarda: Sir, to verify you are our Dakora, please name the commanding officer of the Excalibur at the time of our transfer.
His dressing down of Chevalier momentarily on pause, he responded with a scowl as he realized the Vulcan’s phaser was still aimed in his general direction.
Dakora: Huh? ::His confusion gave way to understanding.:: Commodore Kalianna Nicholotti.
Talos felt some of the tension dispel at that point, with all of the identities sussed out.
Kawarda: ::to Chevalier:: He is who he appears to be. ::tapping his commbadge:: =/\= Kawarda to transporter room, please beam the unconscious personnel near my position to the brig. Out. =/\=
He glanced down at the limp form of what looked exactly like Captain MacKenzie as she faded out of sight and his scowl hardened. He took a single step toward Chevalier.
Dakora: That first shot was clean. I appreciate it. ::He jabbed a bladed hand in the Ensign's direction for emphasis.: But, I don’t know what that in the Great Fire possessed you to pull that little coup de grâce crap, but if I ever see that again you’ll be riding back from whence you came in the brig. Understood?
Chevalier: Responses
They had more important business to attend to, but it had needed to be said.
Dakora: That’s how they ::He gestured in the direction the downed Desdemona Officers had been.:: do things, not us, and not you– so long as you’ve got that delta pinned to your chest.
Chevalier: Responses
He nodded, satisfied that his point had been made, and turned to Kawarda.
Dakora: What’s the ship’s status? ::He pointed up.:: I overheard a scuffle on the bridge on the comm earlier.
Kawarda: Response
It seemed like they weren’t quite out of the woods yet, but things weren’t looking good for the Desdemona insurgents.
He pointed to the case that J had been carrying.
Dakora: They were trying to steal that thing. ::He took a step closer to it and scrunched up his face.:: Holy strokes…. It’s the friggin’ prismagons. We need to get these back to your team in the Haz-Mat labs ASAP.
Kawarda: Response
