Kel: Do we see the Q here often?
Savel: This was my first encounter with the Q since I arrived on the Artemis. I cannot speak for the overall frequency of their visits, but based on comments made by veteran crew members this was not the first time they have seen this particular entity.
Solas wasn’t sure if that made him feel better or worse but he decided to file that away for later.
Kel: Well, they certainly didn’t cover that in the simulators.
Savel: No, they certainly didn't. I don't believe a simulator would be able to accurately represent a situation where one encounters a rogue member of the Q Continuum. That would be quite the complicated program.
Kel: Could always just have the simulation turn on the randomizer
Ensign Savel turned to an open consoles in the middle of the security center and pulled up the duty schedule for the day.
Savel: If you have no objection, we could begin our scheduled duty hours immediately. Unless you have another matter to attend to beforehand?
Kel: Not at all, if anything I’m eager to begin.
The senior ensign nodded and tapped the screen a few more times, bringing up different assignments that hadn’t been handed out.
Savel: It appears there are multiple patrols available for us, one with a focus on Deck 03 and another focused on Deck 06. Both have interesting destinations we would be required to visit. ::switching the task list to the in-house assignments:: Or we could remain here to supervise and assist with weapons maintenance in the armory. ::looking up to Kel:: I will leave the decision to you.
Solas paused to consider the options available to him. Given the events of the last week, he made a somewhat relaxed choice.
Kel: Why don’t we stick here and assist with weapons maintenance? I feel like maintaining our arsenal might be important if we get any surprise visitors.
Savel: Response
Solas nodded.
Kel: Our opportunities to work with phase rifles at the academy was somewhat limited so now may be as good a time as any to get more familiar with them. The question will be whether the ones here are better or worse than the ones we had at the academy.
