She wasn’t certain why Lt.Cdr. Jashkaa seemed so keen on handing off the most dreadful homework every time the two of them had a session. Gila genuinely wasn’t sure which was the more awful one: phaser training or a dinner party. Nevertheless, phaser training she had done, and dinner party she was - apparently - going to be doing, judging by the stern look on the Lt. Commander’s face as Gila tried her darndest to get out of it.

Without much success, she had to admit.

Jashkaa: It doesn’t have to be formal, it can be very relaxed. Have you ever done anything like that?

Gila remained silent for a few moments. She was quite certain pretending the Aailudet hadn’t taken place was a trap waiting to be sprung, since she - in a fit of complete insanity - had decided to make it an open invitation. Which was how the Captain had decided to show up. But perhaps, it could be a way of getting out of it.

Sadar: ... W-Well... I, uhh... I-I technically hosted an Aailudet last shore leave? ... An, uhh... A ‘housewarming’? The food was replicated...

Gila realized the second after she said it that she shouldn’t have added the information about the food being replicated. It lowered the chances of her getting a free card out of this immensely.

Jashkaa: Then this time, don’t replicate the food. It doesn’t have to be many people - two, three guests.

Yup. Hopes completely dashed. Smashed to the ground and stepped on until they were in a million pieces.

Sadar: ... I-I could... T-Try...

The unblinking stare that the green-skinned counselor leveled at her reached the levels of the Captain herself in its ability to unnerve Gila out of her skin.

Jashkaa: You will try. I want an appointment for it, in your calendar, with me as an invitee, before I will sign off on your survey mission.

Lt. Commander Jashkaa could not have said anything more terrifying in that moment, as every fold on Gila’s face flared with anxiety at the idea of the abrasive counselor attending this supposed ‘dinner party’ she was supposed to host.

Sadar: Y-Y-Y-Y-You!? B-B-B-But, I don’t have the f-f-faintest idea how to cook for Orions! And besides, I, uhh, I’m sure you’re very busy, especially with the latest batch of Ensigns just boarding and, uhh-

Gila’s attempts to dissuade the Lt. Commander from attending, and thus making Gila so on edge she doubted she could even accomplish the most basic dish, died out as a slight change in expression hinted to her that she was digging a very deep hole for herself.

Jashkaa: ::pursing her lips in a subtle show of amusement:: Don’t worry, I won’t attend.

Sadar: Y-Y-You won’t? ::tries to hide obvious relief and failing:: O-Okay.

Jashkaa: Response

Sadar: Ah... Y-Yes, that makes sense. ::considers:: I-I’ll, uhh... I-I’ll get that sorted. As quickly as possible…

Realizing the briefness of the available window for her to organize this ‘party’, invite the necessary guests and accomplish the Lt. Commander’s requirements before the survey mission was intended to depart made Gila start stressing, and she unconsciously wrung her anxiety band around her finger.

Jashkaa: Response

Gila rose from her seat with a nod.

Sadar: Th-Thank you for your time, Counselor.

Jashkaa: Response?

With a final nod in farewell, Gila left the Lt. Commander’s office with a hunched back and eyes cast down to the ground in thought.

oO Please, let Sil-net and Lt. Commander Jovenan be free! Oo
