((The Shaded Roads - Central District Underground, Fereng- Ferenginar))
The line between brave and stupid was a thin one that Charlotte probably rode more often than she would ever like to admit. Yet, when she heard about the underground Ferengi market, the want to explore and see something inherently strange was strong enough she went without hesitation.
Along with her uniform, that day she decided on a streak of purple added to her pale blonde hair. Different moods called for different colors, purple was fun, adventurous and gave some sort of color to the mostly black uniform with the red shoulders. The red that was taking more time to get used to than she imagined. Typically on leave she wouldn’t have even bothered with the uniform, but it was a comfort in new situations- whether she would actually admit that or not– was a different story.
Charlotte had made her way to a storefront with some odd items that were being labeled as “Rare!”, “One of a kind” and “Mostly-Ethically procured”, items. She watched as someone, clearly not Ferengi, picked up and looked at an oddly shaped sculpture.
K’Wara: Hmmmm…
She leaned closer to them.
Brexis: Are you also in the market for something to put on your shelf and look at to remind yourself that maybe Ferenginar is the best place to get vaguely suggestive looking statues? ::Chuckling:: Or just me?
K’Wara: Ah, not quite, though that’s an interesting suggestion. ::eyes the stranger:: You’re particularly lobeless yourself, I note. ::reaches out their empty hand:: Tamio K’Wara.
Charlotte returned the handshake and smiled at them.
Brexis: Charlotte Brexis. My friends call me Lottie. ::gesturing to the statue:: And depending on whether you buy that hideous thing or not depends on if we can be friends.
She let out a laugh, perhaps louder than she meant to, garnering stares from some of the others around them.
K’Wara: ::quiet voice:: Knowing this place’s reputation, it’s a broken piece of children’s pottery being passed off for a national treasure. ::normal voice:: You in the market for some souvenirs? Or some sightseeing of the most ill-reviewed tourist locations on Ferenginar?
Brexis: I overheard someone talking about this place. I had to see if it ::looking around:: looked and smelled ::breathing in the air:: like they described. So far it seems on par with ‘dark, musty and the hint of regret in the air’.
K’Wara: Response
Charlotte picked up a different statue. It had an elongated cylindrical shape with a questionable looking mushroom on the top.
Brexis: Oh come on, ::rolling her eyes:: They aren’t even trying to be subtle with this one.
K’Wara: Response
It didn’t take an expert to assume that not many people, including the one she just met, wanted a particularly phallic looking statue. She set it back down and diligently rubbed her hands on her uniform and made a mental note to sanitize thoroughly later.
Brexis: So, what brings you down here to this… ::eyeing a Ferengi store owner:: Eclectic side of town?
K’Wara: Response
