((USS Artemis | Deck 8 | Security Center - Training Facility))
Simulation
stopped as Jaseb turned on Savel. No-one was breathing. No-one moved.
No-one of simulated perpetrators nor hostages looked like they even
ever lived.
Chevalier: Mr. Savel, do I have some
backup? Or am I for this only one man standing, so to speak?
Savel:
You are permitted additional security members to assist you. However,
they won't be able to engage your targets on your behalf. You will
still need to complete the scenario.
As
far as would be great, if a photons of lights would be only one under
fire, and without him achieving the release of another photons of
light, Jaseb never planned to actually leave them to do the job alone.
This was his test, and his ass on the line. He needed distraction.
More bodies, more targets, more distraction. He was on the side of
someone who leads assault. He knew what he wanted to achieve, who to
shoot, who not. He knew the dangerous players. They didn't know any
of that. Who's in command and who is just a body thrown into a
situation.
Savel: If
you call for assistance on your combadge, the program will provide
you with two security officers as backup. I also believe it is
pertinent to inform you that completing this program is not limited
to simply eliminating hostiles with your phaser. Options other than
combat may be available to you.
oO Because everyone in the
world is susceptible to negation and logic, hm? Oo
Chevalier: If
this would be a negotiator scenario, they would negotiate from the
beginning. If they want, they can. If they don't, hostage safety
takes priority.
A
few more notations into the PADD were made while they conversed.
Savel: Very
well, Ensign. The program will resume whenever you decide on
potential reinforcements.
Jaseb nodded.
Chevalier: =/\=
Chevalier for Security, backup needed in Cargo Bay 1. Three hostiles,
two hostages. =/\=
It took a moment, but another two photon security officers entered Cargo
Bay. Jaseb retreated on their position to clarify on the tactic. He
quickly started to draw the plan on near the
container.
Chevalier:
So, it's a rectangular space, one red is here with a blue target. Two
reds here, restraining another blue. Our funnel is here. You two -
::pointed at holographic security officers:: - entry here at count
five and ok confirmation, I enter from here. Your points to cover are
here and here. I'll clear this space. On count three I will shoot this EPS connector,
which will provide us with distraction and flash effects against reds and blues. All
clear?
Security officers nodded and together with Jaseb took
the preparation on the positioning. Jaseb raised his hand with five
fingers up, waited at security officers to do the same and started to
count. At three he leaned out into the funnel and shot EPS conduit Flash
and sparks dazzled the entrance area. He quickly leaned back, checked the security officers. Last finger did go down, and the hand of the security
officer changed to an OK sign. Jaseb confirmed with his own OK. Second
sec officer tapped the shoulder of the first and as a one, all three
entered the funnel.
Chevalier &
Security Officers:
Starfleet
Security! Hands up!
Flash
and blind perpetrators showed as a good idea. The one on the left side
was still disoriented, when Jaseb's beam stunned him when a bad guy
pointed his disruptor in Jaseb's direction. Holographic security
officers in meantime lived up to their reputation as
a Security and
missed both perpetrators on the other side of the room. Second round was
similar, but Jaseb actually hit another perpetrator as
both bad guys returned fire at him and his two buddies. Jaseb took
cover, followed by security officers. Freed the hostage had enough sense in him and ran away.
Third
bad guy took his hostage and ducked into his cover.
Chevalier:
Time to talk, what's your opinion, champ?
Remaining
baddy:
I will shoot the hostage if you will get any closer! Do you
understand?
Chevalier:
And then what? Bargaining chip dead, we at front, loading airlock in
the back. I can see your options are a little limited after that. If a hostage lives, you live. Make it simple.
Simulation took a
second to process Jaseb's sarcasm.
Baddy:
OOOKay. I want a shuttle and free passage to the hangar. And throw your
weapons out.
Chevalier:
First can do, second not. Now you have one hostage, what protects us
not being another three hostages for you after that?
Baddy:
I see we're in trouble. No way out. So, what's your proposal?
Chevalier:
We agreed on your first demand, so for the sake of this negotiation. Are
you susceptible to this proposal? We will retreat back to the
entrance and there and only then will we throw our weapons out.
Baddy:
Ok, but if you try something, a nerdy guy here will not live another
morning, ya dig
Chevalier:
Loud and clear, my friend. Loud and clear.
Jaseb
gestured to a holographic security officers. They slowly
began to retreat to the funnel entrance, where as promised, threw
their weapons out. Jaseb gestured to the security officers to fall back out of the Cargo Bay. In the meantime Jaseb took disruptor rifle from the stunned perpetrator in the container corridor, checked the settings and changed it to stun and
hid near the entrance to Cargo Bay. And waited.
It took a good
two minutes, before the last perpetrator showed. Holding his hostage
as a shield, he tried to move to the Cargo Bay's entrance while
nervously checking his surroundings.
Chevalier
leaned out his cover to face the last bad guy.
Chevalier:
Stop right there.
Terrified
baddy turned with the hostage to confront a danger.
Baddy:
Oh, fugg.
Chevalier:
Easy kid. I could shoot you ten seconds ago if I wanted to.
But look at you. You are in over your head. How old are you?
Sixteen?
Baddy:
Look at you, princess. You will respect me or I... I...
Chevalier:
You want respect? Ok. I'm Jaseb. You?
Baddy:
Danni...
Chevalier:
Nice to meet you, Danni. So, let me give it to you straight. You
will put down your weapon now willingly. I'm a lawyer as well, so I
give you free advice. Cooperation will bring you leniency. And I can
promise you this, on the Starfleet honor - You will not need to rat on
anyone. You will not need to do anything outside of you putting that
disruptor out, and in six months, year maximum, you will be free.
You are a kid, so minimum security prison. You get education, some meaningful skills, you will have a future.
You will get a meaningful life to live.
Jaseb lowered his weapon.
Chevalier:
Or you can shoot me, shoot hostage... And then what? Get twenty to life if those
behind the door are lenient, or killed if they are not and they
“forgot” to set their phaser to stun. It's your life. Your
option. Choose.
Kiddo looked at Jaseb, at the door and back at
Jaseb. He lowered his weapon and released the hostage.
Chevalier:
Good boy. Good choice.
Hostage ran out the cargo bay and the simulation ended.
Jaseb took a couple steps to take and holster his hand phaser from the
holodeck ground, before he turned at Savel.
Chevalier:
So, any evaluation?
Savel:
