((Sickbay, USS Artemis-A))
Solas grimaced as the doctor continued his examination, long slender fingers seeming to poke and prod his foot. He imagined the doctor was trying to feel if anything was off. But the silence was bothering him.
Kel: I know I’m lucky the phaser didn’t slice my leg off but shouldn’t it be healed by now?
Adea: It is healed, and it appears to be working, but pain is something we have to work through.
The commander pulled his knee up.
Adea: Does that hurt?
Kel: No, that doesn’t hurt. Or at least doesn’t make it hurt worse. Although my outer thigh feels a bit numb when you do that.
Adea: That makes sense, there is possibly some pressure on the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve - I recommend wearing looser underwear for the time being.
Sighing, Solas leaned back a bit and stared up at the ceiling.
Kel: I know this is silly but after the whole Borg incident I thought my first major injury would be something I’d be proud of. Like taking a shot meant for the captain or something. But here I am hole up on shore leave because I literally shot myself in the foot. It’s embarrassing, I think even my mother would have a hard time disagreeing.
Adea: Don’t underestimate mothers, they can twist anything to suit their needs.
Solas chucked.
Kel: Don’t forget, mine is Vulcan.
He thought he saw the commander wince.
Adea: But in all seriousness, Solas - don’t beat yourself up. We were all put in impossible situations over the Borg incident, and we all dealt with it the best we could. You did well, and don’t forget it.
Solas let his eyes fall to the floor.
Kel: yeah….yeah I know. It’s just…. I shot my self in the leg.
Adea: Response
Solas shifted uncomfortably and picked up his crutch to toy around with it. Jiggling whatever lose bits he could find.
Kel: I don’t know if I’ll be able to get past that until it’s healed you know, sir? I tried going down to the Holodeck and practice shooting but that didn’t help. I didn’t miss I got a rebound. I just wanna do something.
Solas sighed and let his head rest on the crutch.
Kel: Will I need to get a note from the counselor or can we officially diagnose me as a workaholic?
Adea: Response
Solas nodded, letting his hand gently fall to his side so he could rub his leg a little.
Kel: Are there any excercises I could be doing? Or is it too soon for that?
Adea: Response
