((Outside the Captains Ready Room, Deck 1, USS Artemis-A))
The shuttle ride was short and sweet, and after handing-off her luggage to some bright-eyed operations crewmen to be taken to her quarters, she headed to the bridge to report to the Artemis’s captain. Pressing the bell outside, she waited to be called in.
MacKenzie: Come in!
The door swished open; Alyndra stepped inside the office.
Syrex: Lieutenant Alyndra Syrex, reporting for duty, Captain.
Alyndra presented her temporary assignment PADD over to the captain.
MacKenzie: Doctor Syrex, of the Ronin.
Syrex: That’s right Ma’am.
MacKenzie: Why are you here?
That comment took Alyndra slightly by surprise. Stepping back on her metaphorical footing, she asked the captain to repeat herself. Alyndra wasn’t used to the consistent Ma’aming, the atmosphere surrounding the Ronin’s command was more laid back than the Artemis from what she had heard in passing. Perhaps she was overdoing it a little?
Syrex: I’m sorry, Ma’am?
As the Artemis’s Captain held her reputation as being tough-as-nails was beginning to show, she flicked the PADD down onto her deck. Interlocking her fingers, she leaned forward, deeply analysing Alyndra’s every movement. Alyndra gulped, trying carefully to not seem nervous.
MacKenzie: This
appears to be a voluntary transfer request, not one mandated by Starfleet
Command. So, why are you here?
Syrex: Frankly, I needed a holiday. I saw you were in orbit of Risa. But the
think is I get bored when relaxing. I like to keep myself occupied. So, I
applied for a transfer here to help you all out.
oO Like
when Dr Sadar gets the sleepies… Wait… Am I babbling? Oo
MacKenzie: Are you not satisfied with your time on the Ronin?
Syrex: No, of course not. Ronin Strong! ::flexes her arm muscles:: Ma’am…
Captain MacKenzie didn’t seem
best impressed. Alyndra stopped flexing her arms like a strong-man and stood
back at attention, or ease? Whatever it was, it was smarter than she had been.
MacKenzie: Are you familiar with Captain
Niac’s service record?
Syrex: Only the important parts, Ma’am.
MacKenzie: And are you aware of the fact that he served under me on
the Excalibur?
Syrex: Errmm.. No.
oO Oh, that didn’t sound too good Oo
Syrex: …Ma’am
Still looking unimpressed, she leaned forward once again.
MacKenzie: And
what do you suppose he might say if I were to inquire about you and your
service on the Ronin?
Syrex: Well, If I’m honest, I wouldn’t want to speculate on that. If you
would like to know what he’d say, you’d have to talk to him.
MacKenzie: Response
Alyndra adjusted her uniform, clearing her throat.
Syrex: Well… Before I left the Ronin, I was promoted. So, I would assume mostly positive feedback. I would hope for mostly positive.
MacKenzie: Response
Alyndra flexed her shoulders again, this was certainly one of the more.. tense greetings she’d had. When she met Captain Niac he nearly threw a plate at someone. The Artemis clearly had a slightly different tone than the Ronin did.
Syrex: I did lose my eye; that’s something that happened. My mentor back home lost his arm, when he was under your command if I remember correctly. I hope that the Artemis offers, if anything the environment in which I can remain intact if I’m honest with you. I doubt Karrod would be happy if you sent me back as a pile of dust.
MacKenzie: Response
