Acting Captain's Log, Stardate 240209.19
After responding to the distress call from the Boraxian colony ship known as New Hope. We discovered a would-be separatist faction of the Boraxian, consisting of the agendered, sacred population of the species. Known simply as The Yurum.
Their leader, Luirétt, has requested asylum in their bid to be free of the Boraxian protection that has seemingly limited their independence. The details of which remain vague… They've proven to be deeply private people. We have seen first hand how perilously unequipped they are for life outside of their home but is that enough of a reason to prevent them the freedom to learn and grow? Or would we simply become the new protectors to them? By offering asylum we would have an obligation to their care. Then, in doing so, would we become the very thing they freed themselves from?
Under General Order 9, it is not my decision alone to grant political asylum to the Yurum. The Federation have been notified of the request and as such await further evidence to the Yurum’s claim. Which I hope to provide … We do have some mysteries to uncover. A potential saboteur and a crystalline rock compound that was found within their medbay? I can't shake the feeling that there is something … unusual about all of this…
… And to make matters worse the Boraxian city ship and their available fleet of ships have arrived. At this point they have not armed their weapons but both sides remain in a heightened state.
End log.

((Conference Room - Deck 1 - USS Artemis-A))
Ava was seated at the head of the table. In front of her were her senior officers; Jovenan, Silveira, and Morgan. Each of them had already advised what they had found in their initial dealings with the Yurum. All of it just added to the mystery of these aliens, and their cultural beliefs.
Yet, even still, new developments have emerged.
Munro: I've received an alert from New Hope that engineer Dariell has gone missing. Commander Silveira, you met them on the ship, any impressions?
Silveira: Response
Munro: :: nods :: I want you to take Lt. Storm, and locate the engineer and find out more about the saboteur, I don't have to remind you to use a soft approach. I don't think the Boraxians will want us pointing or firing phasers at their sacred vessels.
Silveira/Morgan/Jovenan: Response
Munro: I wonder if there are any Yurum that may not be as devoted to the cause as Luirétt and Vhaljean would have us believe? :: to Silveira :; Take Ensign Tho'Bi and Ensign Meris with you. Meris has a way of cutting through the noise that might be useful, and they are familiar with the Yurum from working with Luirétt. Tho'Bi is familiar with the ship.
Silveira: Response
Munro: Doctor Morgan I'd like you to work with Sam Richards and Lt. Imril on the discovery they made on New Hope. Take Vhaljean with you, see if they know anything about it.
Morgan: Response
Munro: Commander Jovenan, we will be taking a team to the city ship. Advocate Chavrainne has invited us to join them at the Yurum Sanctuary Spire and Luirétt has agreed to come with us as a representative of the Yurum. This might give us a chance to see what their living conditions are like.
Jovenan: Response
Ava looked out the window to her side. The large city ship dominated the space, she could see the other ships around it and all manner of small shuttles that moved around, like insects around a beast.
City lights blazened, spires reached out to the space beyond the transparent casing and the explorer in her became excited about the prospect of beaming aboard this wonder.
((OOC: To keep this short I've moved along but I am happy to back SIM if you want to ask questions etc))
((Short time later - Transporter Room 1 - Deck - USS Artemis-A))
As Ava and Jovenan entered the transporter room, waiting for them was K'Wara, Bergmen and two of the ensigns: Cole and Bancroft.
Each of them had been chosen to join them on the city ship as they attended the diplomatic event being held by Advocate Chavrainne.
To one side of the room was Luirétt. They cut a solitary figure, she hoped that the situation wasn't proving too stressful for them. She had convinced the leader to join them in her hopes that somehow they might open up a dialogue. It was a risk but given that the Boraxians could easily overpower the Artemis and take what they wanted - she didn't see the harm in it - as they appeared to want to avoid this level of conflict. For now.
Munro: I'm glad you are all gathered :: nods respectfully :: Luirétt, thank you for agreeing to accompany us. Your experience will be invaluable. If there is anything you can let us know about your customs or ways that would be useful, please do share?
Luirétt: Response
Jovenan/K'Wara/Bergmen/Cole/Bancroft: Response
Munro: Does anyone have any questions before we beam over?
