(( USS Griffin - On the way to Kahines II ))

Sadar: We are here on a diplomatic scientific survey. As officers of Starfleet, I trust you all to watch your words and treat our Klingon guests with grace, both in front of them and otherwise.

Ensign Lyara nodded.

Whatever if he trusted her with her temper, Ollie still didn’t know. He just hoped the Klingons would not poke her Bajoran … honor and past.

Lyara: Sounds simple enough.

Bergmen followed the example of his colleague and nodded as well. And smiled at Gila as a little bonus.

Bergmen: Understood, doc’tor.

Sadar: Thank you. For the moment, you’re all dismissed. ::hesitant smile:: Enjoy the ride.

Ollie turned back to his console and began transferring the data stream to his PADD, intending to check the shuttle's electrical relay. Just then, Ensign Lyara's voice filled the cockpit again, prompting Ollie to snap out of his thoughts.

Lyara: So that means Pretty Officer won’t be doing any spy stuff like in the holonovels?

Bergmen froze, slowly turning his head to Filistrien.

Filistrien: Unfortunately, Sir, the work of Intelligence seldom lives up to the extraordinary expectations harbored by outsiders. ::patient smile:: I assure you, I shall attempt to make myself useful.

Ollie stifled a smile and the laughter threatening to escape. He turned back to the screen, quickly completed the transfer, and picked up the PADD that lay next to the console.

Bergmen: I'm going to take a bite of something. Anyone to join?

Bergmen looked around and realized that their engineering colleague was no longer in the cockpit, likely having already left.

Filistrien/Lyara: Response

Bergmen shrugged his shoulders and left the cockpit to the shared area.

Imril: Doctor? May I speak with you privately?

Sadar: Response

He nodded at Gila as he entered, ignored Imril, and headed for the replicator, looking into his PADD.

Bergmen: Falafel Pita Sandwich with mango hummus.

The replicator materialized food in front of the ensign with an all-too-familiar hum. Bergmen retrieved the food while silently holding the PADD under his arm. He then moved to the table, put down the food and PADD, and sat down to eat.

After a few bites, he picked up his PADD and ignored two while reading the data he downloaded and continued eating.

Sadar/Imril: Response (OOC: tag for your private discussion, Ollie will be out of hearing distance)

After he finished his plate - he was pretty quick on that - he silently stood up, put the saucer in the replicator, and let it dematerialize before returning to the cockpit.

As the door closed behind him, he walked over to Lyara and showed her the PADD.

Bergmen: I looked at the data now, when the shuttle is in full run, and that replacement of relay 11-7 looks like did not resolve the issue we were talking about with the deck chief.

Bergmen handed Lyara the PADD for her to look it herself.

Bergmen: It shouldn't cause any problems for us now. After we land, I plan to install the switchgear to that relay until we return to Artemis and throw it back at the deck crew again. What do you think?

Lyara: Response

Bergmen took his PADD back and nodded. He returned to his seat next to Filistrien, placed the PADD next to the touchboard on the console, and turned to the petty officer.

Bergmen: So, Mr. Filistrien, how long do you serve? Do you like it at Artemis?

Filistrien: Response

Ollie smiled and leaned back in his chair.

Bergmen: Interesting… ::makes eye contact:: I did not see you much onboard. Are you staying late in that secret department of yours? Or do you go out sometimes?

Filistrien: Response

Lyara: Response
