((Counsellor's Office - Counselling Suites - Deck 7 - USS Artemis-A))
She held the door open to her office within the counselling suites. The door was unusual in the sense that it was on a hinge and swung open, as per Lori’s instructions.
Lori had gone to the door and allowed the Artemis' new tactical officer to enter. She indicated the seat further from the door for her to sit on, as was customary. A precaution that all therapists were advised to take … as not all sessions would end well but she had every reason to think that this would not be one of those encounters. Thankfully.
Lux: :: indicates the bottles on the table :: Help yourself, if you feel thirsty or even if you need something to do with your hands.
Storm: Most counselors wouldn’t acknowledge that use of an object as being a valid one, but I’m good for now, Thanks.
Lori took to her own seat, and adopted an open posture as she watched Alexandra take her seat. She smiled politely at the officer's note about most counsellors and squirrelled the information away. Most had presumptions about what counselling entailed and normally statements such as this were a way to regain control of a situation. Not uncommon within the Starfleet ranks of highly capable, well trained individuals.
Lux: :: nods acknowledgement :: I've read your files that were sent from your previous therapist but I thought it would be helpful for both of us if you could tell me in your own words what brought you to therapy, perhaps share what it is you hope to gain from our sessions?
Lori held her posture and her gaze politely at the officer as she seemed to search for her words. Again, not an uncommon reaction to the first meeting with a counsellor.
Storm: Commander, have you ever felt driven by others to take a certain stance only to realize that you had worked yourself into a corner that was detrimental to your own happiness and well-being? And then you tried to make things right only to find out that you were too late?
oO Commander Oo
This was an interesting back and forth she was having. Again, not uncommon for the client to push the narrative on to the counsellor.
Lux: Is that how you feel, Alexandra? Backed into a corner of your own making?
Storm: I’m sure I’m not the only one it’s ever happened to. But that’s my version of how I found myself in this predicament.
Lux: Maybe if you explained the predicament to me, that's something we can explore?
Lori watched closely as Alexandra's eyes drew together and she busied herself by studying a spot on the floor. Then her lips pressed tightly together and she looked up towards Lori, who smiled and leaned forward in an engaged position. She held the space carefully, and felt the strange overlap of personalities within the Lux symbiont come forth. Her previous host as an investigator, Baris, was found to be especially useful. He would hold space for criminals, knowing that sooner rather than later the truth would be out - it was just a waiting game.
Storm: I think Kona sees things differently, and if I’m honest, I don’t know whose point of view is more correct because I’m sure that neither of us has a corner on truth when it comes to our relationship or our daughter.
Lux: I'm interested in how you see the predicament, Alexandra? And if you could expand on those feelings of being cornered, it sounds to me as if you believe that you've created the circumstances?
Storm: Response
Lux: :: nods :: And this resulted in Kona leaving with Cassandra, your daughter?
Lori listened intently to the officer some more.
Storm: Response
Lux: Where does that leave you now?
Storm: Response
