((Samantha’s Quarters Deck 6, USS Artemis))
Natasha stood outside Samantha’s quarters looking slightly ridiculous with two stuffed animals tucked under her arm, a light brown teddy bear and white rabbit. She wasn’t entirely sure what to bring for a belated baby shower gift, but these felt right. They were classic, safe and near impossible to replicate the wrong way.
She reached for the door chime, but let her hand hover for a moment. What if the babies had just gone down for a nap? She could practically hear the lecture she’d get if she woke them. There were other ways she could check, but those would cross lines even she wasn’t reckless enough to cross, not when it came to a friend.
Instead, she pressed her ear gently to the door. Beyond the faint hum of the ship, she caught the sound of laughter, the light and warm kind of laughter that carried through even the heaviest of insulated walls. A small smile tugged at her lips. Good. She deserves that.
Natasha straightened herself, gave the stuffed animals a scritch on their heads,
and tapped the chime.
Richards: Response
Cole: Hi, I hope I’m not interrupting nap time?
Richards: Response
Cole: I brought presents for the babies.
She shifted the two stuffed animals into her palms, holding them out with a small grin, she admittedly agonized over this decision far longer then anyone would expect.
Richards: Response
Cole: Yours, though… I’ll need to borrow your replicator for that one.
