Genkos’ akai made contact with the man’s shoulder, and saw that Talos had already recovered, so instead of going for another strike, he twirled away, almost overbalancing off the side, but righting himself just in the nick of time.

Adea: ~ Nearly ~

As Genkos turned to face him once again, Talos rolled his shoulder once, and Genkos wondered if he was exaggerating the pain to put Genkos more off-balance.

Dakora: ~ Are we dancing or fighting? ~ ::He grinned wryly:: ~ That’s one point; You. ~

They were just getting started, but Genkos could tell that although Talos was rusty, he was by no means untalented. Very much a threat. Genkos twirled his akai nonchalantly before pointing it meaningfully at Talos.

Adea: ~ Bit of both ~

Talos twirled his akai once, flexing his wrist and dipping it low toward the mat, all the while probing Genkos’ mind. He could sense the man’s mind was on the attack, trying to sniff out the good doctor’s next intention. But Genkos stayed still, his eyes and mind one in their attentive look at Talos.

Pushing hard off his back foot, Talos stayed low, focusing his attention on a probing strike across the side of Genkos’ knee, and Genkos could read the man - he was questioning Genkos’ ration time, which caused the doctor to smirk. Genkos moved to block, but Talos twisted mid-step, pivoting into a spin that brought his akai into a glancing blow across Genkos’ ribs as he nearly dodged. Close but it was still a hit.

Dakora: ~ Ok, so a little dancing does work. ~

Adea: ::frowning:: ~ One all. ~

The match continued on in a blur of motion, rhythm, and some mild telepathic trash-talk. Deliberate moves and sharp feints evolved into something more fluid as each of them learned the other's style and tempo. It was a harsh learning curve, both realising that their opponents were no walk-over.

Their akai clashed again and again, whether against flesh, or metal or air. They were pretty equally matched, and although to an outsider the match was almost silent, even inside their minds the banther began to quieten, and only the grunts of exertion or pain could be heard verbally or telepathically.

Then, it was 10 to 10, with the match point on the line.

Once again, they faced off, only in reverse, they had managed to swap sides. Talos’ breathing was heavy but not laboured, and Genkos’ was trying not to show the slight ache in his lungs as they sucked in life.

Dakora: ~ All comes down to this point. ~  ::He wiped sweat from his brow with the back of his off hand and shrugged.:: ~ Kinda makes all the other times we hit each other feel a little pointless, doesn’t it? ~

Genkos hit Talos with a look of mock-confusion.

Adea: ~ It’s always fun to hit you, Talos. ~

Genkos took a half step forward, then back, then forward again, his akai twirling at the end of his wrist.

Dakora: Response

He was on the offensive now, sneaking forward, his feet barely leaving the platform but instead sliding slowly across. He raised his akai high above his head, like a snake attempting to strike, and brought it down in a harsh arc, a few inches away from Talos’ face.

Adea: ~ Damn ~

But that wasn’t the end of the maneuvre known in the business as a Flanarian strike - much like that bird, the head came down quickly, but then jerked upwards, which is what Genkos’ akai did now, flicking upwards and trying to hit underneath Talos’ defence and make contact with his ribs.

Dakora: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
