((Sacred Marketplace, Ferenginar))
Jaran: You're not wrong, you know. Anyway, what about you? What has you in the middle of this bustle? You don't seem the type to go on a shopping spree.
The answer was a little longer coming than Jira expected. And it was a little more vague they'd hoped, as well. But she didn't owe them anything. They barely knew each other, after all.
Storm: I’m waiting on a transport.
She checked the time.
Storm: It leaves in two hours and forty minutes, and I didn’t feel like waiting in the … whatever kind of rain are they calling it now.
Jaran: I think it's an oolmering. In between a frippering and a glebbening. Don't worry, I can't keep track of them either. A miserable way to spend the time while you wait to go to the tropical paradise of... wherever you're headed.
Storm: Kelara station.
She nodded her head several times in quick succession.
Jaran: Ah yes. The tropical paradise of Kelara station. ::small smile:: Everyone's dream vacation.
Alex readjusted her hands, causing drops of wet to fall from her slicker and join the wet already on the floor.
Storm: Well, while we’re here, do you fancy doing any shopping?
Jira knew a forced smile when they saw one. There was something going on with Alex. They hoped she'd eventually feel comfortable. But you have to be comfortable for someone to feel comfortable. Some casual shopping was a good start.
Jira did a small bow and gestured with their sandwich toward the heart of the market.
Jaran: Shopping sounds delightful. Lead the way!
Storm: Response
They wandered through the rows of stalls. It was an assault of sights and sounds and smells. And everything was covered in gold or gems. It was extravagant beyond good taste.
A Ferengi in flowing robes pawed at Jira so intensely that it essentially amounted to dragging them into her stall. Jira guessed the Ferengi females had to be a little pushier since society hadn't quite caught up with their involvement with commerce yet. Change takes time. And no small amount of force.
Fine fabrics with elegant designs were everywhere inside. Bolts of smooth silks made racks bow with their weight. Jira picked up a delicate scarf off a nearby hook and held it out to Alex.
Jaran: What do you think? It's a good colour for you.
Storm: Response
oO "Never buy the first thing you see." Ferengi Rule of Acquisition... I dunno. How many were there again? Oo
They put the scarf back on its hook, thanked the Ferengi woman, and walked back out in the crowd. As they walked, they figured a little conversation was in order.
oO Let's stay away from their trip this time. Touchy touchy. Oo
Jaran: So why the marketplace with your precious couple of hours? It seems like you chose chaos on purpose.
Storm: Response
