Imril: ::shouting:: The stuff may be capable of retaining electrical charges!

Munro: :: urgent :: We need to get clear of these trees. :: less confident :: But ... That wind?

Jira saw Vitor looking around, trying to find a safe place to make their bunker. Given the state of the leaf in front of their face, it seemed like a good idea to look too. But where?

Jaran: ::too quiet to be heard over the wind:: Exploding trees. Exploding rocks. Does it matter where we go?

Imril: ::shouting:: We could try another tree? Look for a hollow to duck inside?

Munro shook her head.

Munro: We're more likely to be hit by lightning or a tree as we search.

Silveira: I agree, but we have to find a way we can be safe as we go.

Lightning slashed to the ground again, as if to emphasise the importance (and the challenge) of safety in these conditions.

Imril: ::shouting:: Or move closer to the yellow rocks! Let them be our lightning rods!

The team looked at each other. Jira shrugged.

Munro: :: resolved :: Let's go!

Silveira looked at his team, then gestured that he would take up the rear. That worked for Jira. They certainly didn't want to be left behind.

As Munro stood, she winced. Jira's doctor senses tingled, and they resolved to check out the commander at the first opportunity. But if she was moving right now, that would have to do.

Jaran: Commander, I saw that. Can you run? Walk?

Imril: Response

Munro: It's okay...

oO We'll see about that soon. Oo

The team steadily moved forward, toward the yellow rocks. Munro looked back briefly, and her eyes went wide.

Munro: :: awed :: Wow.

Jira turned their head to look, along with Vitor.

oO Ok, that's a wow situation. Oo

The trees were a magnificent catastrophe of colour and light and motion and heat. They'd been in there and walked out alive. But no time to dwell on that.

Silveira: Damn, looks like we made it just on time.

Jaran: Keenly said.

Imril: Response

The wind seemed to be whipping a little less by now. The rain slightly less urgent. But the storm still raged, and they needed to move. Munro still took advantage of the lessened threat to check in with her team, though.

Munro: How is everyone? :: winces :: Anyone hurt?

Vitor looked at the Commander.

Silveira: Soaking wet, but you don’t look too comfortable Commander.

Jaran: Yeah, we're going to have a look at you first chance we get to rest. But that's going to have to wait. Unless someone's bleeding out right now, we need to go.

Munro/Imril: Response

Silveira scanned the surroundings.

Silveira: We have to find some cover and get ourselves dry.

Jira took a look toward the rocks they'd been moving toward. That seemed oddly like the safest bet. If they could find some shelter under them, they could ride this storm out.

Jaran: Let's keep heading to those rocks. Maybe we can find one to act as a shelf over us.

Munro/Imril: Response

Vitor kept looking at the forest and pointed.

Silveira: And we must recover some of that fire. Grab a torch or something… And quickly…

Jira grudgingly agreed with him. Starting a fire in this weather was going to be tricky situation, and it probably made the most sense to take advantage of the already-fired fire. But their concern was for the commander's apparent injury. After the time they'd had on this planet, it was a real roll of the dice what they were going to find upon examination.

Jaran: We need to get the commander to cover so I can make sure she's not in danger. I'm going to keep going with her to the rocks.

Munro/Imril: Response

As they got closer, Jira was certain they could see a darker spot in the lighter darkness under one of the yellow rocks.

Jaran: ::turning their head and speaking loudly:: There! We're headed for that hollow under the right-most rock in that row.

Munro/Imril/Silveira: Response

The short run felt like miles. The exhaustion. The fear. The wind. Everything was conspiring to keep them from reaching relative safety. But several years later, they reached what did end up being a space under one of the yellow rock formations, just large enough to fit a few bedraggled Starfleet officers and their scant equipment.

They would enjoy the lack of rain and wind in a moment. The important things came first, though.

Jaran: Ok, catch your breath and have a seat. Commander, I'm wasting no time. Let's take a look at whatever it was that made you wince.

Munro/Imril/Silveira: Response

Jira took a close look at Ava's side, then up at her face. They prodded tentatively and observed her reactions.

Jira tutted and lowered their eyes.

Jaran: Commander, I have some bad news for you. It appears you're suffering from ecchymosis, caused by a dermal tissue haemotoma. ::pause:: Commander, it's a bruise. I'm sorry it hurts, but... that's kind of what bruises do sometimes. Should I administer last rites?

Munro/Imril/Silveira: Response
