((Transporter Room One - Deck 4, USS Artemis-A))

‘Learn how the transporters work and get control of them’... Easier said than done. Disrupting a system was easy - jab something pointy into it, and few systems could continue to function as normal afterwards - but learning how the Federation’s most sophisticated tech worked and then turning it to their advantage was a taller order. Figures the Major got himself on the easy detail and saddled the three Lieutenants with the impossible task.

Not to say that Gila wasn’t doing her damndest to actually do what was ordered of her - she was a good girl, did as she was told - but she could still grumble her way through the task with the best of them. The knowledge that Vik was on the Bridge, pretending to have it all under control, was a slight comfort, but only slight. She wasn’t blue-eyed enough to actually believe the old coot when he said they’d ‘taken over the Ship’, when she was barely making any headway on this damn-

As she was mentally grumbling her way through yet another mental complaint, shots started going off. She glanced up, seeing some of the security folks they’d managed to have transported over prior to all of this taking potshots at something in the corridor outside. Their time was just about up. Considering the fact that she’d barely made any headway in the ten-twenty minutes they’d had in here before being sniffed out, she didn’t suspect she was going to have the thing cracked before-

Lights. Noise. A damn cavalcade of the most annoying sounds and flashes started attacking her senses, causing an involuntary grinding of teeth as Gila immediately stumbled away from the transporter console. She knew what was about to happen - it was the most basic of 101’s to attacking a defensible position. A distraction, and then a charge while the opponent was otherwise occupied.

Well, two could play at that game, and before her allies had time to look around, Gila was away. She needed a distraction, and they would serve nicely. She’d gotten into the strange tubes that snaked their way through the entirety of the Artemis, just as she heard the Transporter Room behind her being breached and phaser fire kicking off in earnest.

Well, that was that… What now?

The face of ‘her counterpart’, the Mizarian Doctor who cowered in fear and never dared look up, floated in front of her mind’s eye, and Gila Thevn formulated a plan. The Transporter Room was a bust, and all things considering, the possibility of the Desdemona crew taking the ship without backup and at least two senior officers down were slim. But Gila could still accomplish something.

And if Gila Sadar would be anywhere, it would be Sickbay.

((Primary Sickbay - Deck 7, USS Artemis-A))

As it turned out, Sickbay was not where Doctor Sadar found herself. In fact, not much of anyone of consequence found themselves in the sterile white and downright cozy onboard hospital that put the Infirmary aboard the Desdemona to shame ten times over.

The one thing that Gila and her pathetic excuse for a double had in common was the fact that neither one of them truly felt at ‘home’ in the position of a medical practitioner. Gila was considered a ‘physician’ on board the Desdemona because true medical knowledge - the kind that was about more than a tourniquet and alcohol on a wound - was hard to come by, and she had just enough of it to be considered most valuable in that position. If they truly managed to take the Artemis though, would they even need Doctors?

The idea of an Infirmary that could handle all but the most grievous of damage in the blink of an eye, just needing hands to activate the technology, was appealing. And yet, here they were, squandering medical personnel away in a Sickbay doing, what, fixing mental papercuts from all the PADDwork they had to do? Oh woe.

oO Well… She’ll be back here eventually. And when she does, there’ll be a present waiting for her. Oo

It was a routine enough job. She’d already managed to procure the necessary parts from a mix of the things they’d gained access to in the armory and then a few DIY parts that the replicators weren’t restricted from making. Sickbay was manned by a skeleton crew - focus was on repelling the invaders, after all - and it was a menial task to wait them out, await a time where she had a window of opportunity and then slip into the room undetected.

It had to be set relatively close to the entrance so she was certain it would trigger at the right time, but thanks to the various parts of Starfleet-make, it didn’t look too out of place. It just had to be there for when the senior officers returned. And then...

As Gila climbed back up into the Jeffries’ Tubes, her next goal in mind, she found herself slightly disappointed. It was really too bad that she wouldn’t be there to see the look on the face of whoever triggered her little surprise - hopefully it was someone important and markedly not Desdemonan - but if the rest of the takeover was going in a similar fashion to how the takeover of the Transporter Room had, they had to start getting more creative than “Hello, I have a phaser, so surrender.”

oO And I’m going to Him? I’m officially out of options… Oo
