The wobbling of the planet caused the specific ores to concentrate to the poles. That was Jovenan’s conclusion as she observed the sensor data on the interface. She wrote it down and resumed the analysis. It was routine work; important but not exciting to most. She was happy to continue mundane, boring work after the weeks of excitement and space battles, although she also wished they could find something new and marvellous to look on. That being said, an object that had been observed before was a prime target for today’s observations, as she did this more for the sake of familiarizing herself with the sensor pods astonishing capabilities. The weird hump on the roof had proven itself to be a worthy addition.

Adea: =/\= Adea to Silveira, Jovenan and Kag. Please meet me in my office at your earliest convenience… Which means now. Adea out =/\=

Jovenan turned away from the interface. Interruptions were rarely welcome, but sometimes they provided an excuse for a pause. She ended the analysis cycle and turned off the interface before tapping her combadge.

Jovenan: =/\= Jovenan here. I’m on my way, sir. =/\=

She stepped out of the lab to the corridor on deck 9. As she walked down the corridor towards the turbolift, she looked around on the closed doors by the sides. The Artemis had fewer science labs that the Excalibur had, and they were spread out more. However, pretty much everything Jovenan needed was on deck 9: astrometrics, stellar cartography, astrophysics, geology and four other labs. There was also the CSO’s office, if she ever needed help from her supervisor, although the office was now empty as they lacked the department head. The hydroponics was also there, not exactly her core subject, but it was a nice place, nonetheless.

On the turbolift, she almost asked to go to the sickbay, before correcting herself. Doctor Adea’s office was no longer there. He was the first officer now; he’d be on deck 2. It would take her a while to get used to the new positions of her old crewmates and the new deck layout. Way too many times she had searched for her quarters on the deck 5.

Jovenan: Deck 2, First Officer’s office.

((First Officer’s office, Deck 2, USS Artemis))

Jovenan stopped behind the XO’s door and straightened anxiously her new skant uniform. She had met Doctor Adea multiple times now and had found him amicable and professional, a person she should not have no reason to be nervous when talking to. She wondered if she would meet the same Doctor Adea he has been this far, or if his new position could have changed him in such a short period.

She also wondered the set up of officers asked to report to him. Some new officers had joined the Artemis on arrival to the Deep Space 224 and the subsequent posting to the Borderlands. One of those new officers had been Ensign Kag, a science officer like Jovenan, but they worked in such different fields they had little opportunities to cooperate or meet on their daily work. She had read his personnel file but had not meet him. Another science officer made some sense, but she didn’t see how the two science officers and the tactical officer had in common that they’d be invited to the XO’s office at once.

Jovenan breathed deep in, and rang the bell to inform Doctor Adea of her arrival.

Adea: Response

The doors opened, and she stepped in. Inside, she was greeted by the familiar face, but dressed in a different uniform and a different colour.

Jovenan: Doct… Commander. N- Nice to see you, sir.

Addressing the superior officer by the wrong title, what a strong beginning for the meeting. She tried convincing herself to calm down, but her brain simultaneously insisted on being ashamed of herself, even if it had been the party in fault.

Adea: Response

She stepped further in and sat down on a chair the Doctor, the XO had in his office to wait for the other’s to arrive. She smiled a little to the Betazoid officer.

Jovenan: It’s a nice ship. Smaller than the Excal, but it has everything I need. The sensor pod in particular has exceeded my expectations.

Adea/Silveira/Kag: Response
