Genkos pulled his tricorder out of his top drawer and threw it across the desk to Addison’s hands. He sat back nonchalantly.

Adea: Feel free to examine me, Captain. For your own mental reassurance more than anything… ::he paused:: Although did CloQ say “the Betazoid”, did they use those words, or did they use my name?

She stood, unfolding the tricorder and removing the scanner, then moved to the other side of the desk to where Genkos was seated. She started the exam and continued to talk.

MacKenzie: Just the Betazoid.

Genkos frowned as he considered the words - there was a distinct possibility that CloQ hadn’t been referring to Genkos at all - there was at least one other Betazoid on board…

Adea: So they might have meant Talos?

She kept her eyes fixated on the device, and Genkos wondered if he should read anything into it. Was Addison ignoring Talos for a reason, or did she just not want him to be the problem…

MacKenzie: Of course it’s possible. I don’t know why I’m fixated on you – probably because if I let anything happen to you, Kalianna would have my ass…

Adea: That she would. Is it possible you don’t want it to be Talos?

Her eyes shifted back and forth between the tricorder and Genkos, confirming what she saw on the screen with what she could see with her eyes. After a moment of hesitation, she folded the device and handed it back to him.

MacKenzie: You’re fine. Apparently.

Genkos raised his brows at her ignoring of his mention of Talos. Again, was there anything to read into that? Genkos had often suspected that there might be something going on between them, there was at least a spark. That much was obvious to everyone.

Adea: Never doubted it for a second, Captain.

She returned to her chair on the other side of the desk and crossed her arms, a bit begrudgingly. After a moment, her face softened, and Genkos shot her a cheeky wink. He folded his own arms, and he leaned back, relaxed for the moment.

MacKenzie: Well, I suppose I don’t have to lose sleep over your well-being any more, do I?

Adea: You’ve been losing sleep over me? I’m touched.

MacKenzie: Response

Genkos sighed for a long moment as he looked at the ceiling.

Adea: Have you considered that CloQ was just messing with you? One final twist of the knife before disappearing? They really dislike us all for some reason.

MacKenzie: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
