((Shuttlebay - Deck 11 - USS Artemis))

Talos looked up from the PADD he'd been referencing and eyed the newly refurbished Shuttlecraft Griffin.

It had sustained some damage during the events preceding Frontier Day and now one of the shuttle flight operations Officers was standing in front of the refurbished craft like a proud papa.

Just thinking the phrase nearly made him wince. A few days had passed since he'd heard the news, but it still hardly felt real.

He turned to the flight operations Crewman and gave him a nod of approval.

Dakora: Great work, Petty Officer. Glad to see this shuttle back in the rotation!

Before the man could reply, Talos' badge chirped.

Sadar: =/\= ::squeaky voice:: C-C-Commander? ::clears throat:: C-Commander Dakora, Doctor Sadar here. =/\=

He made a face that he hoped expressed his disappointment in not being able to heap more praise on the proud Petty Officer

Dakora: Sorry, I have to take this.

He took a few steps away and tapped his badge.

Dakora: =/\= Go for Dakora. =/\=

Sadar: =/\= I’m sorry to disturb you, Sir, but I have- uhh… ::looks confused at Dr. Richards:: Your, uhh… ::shakes head:: I have Doctor Richards here with me. For a… A pre-natal check-up. She requests your presence. =/\=

The words jolted him like the time he'd gotten a little too close to an E.P.S. junction with a malfunctioning regulator. Despite the fact that she's said it was only a check-up, his mind immediately conjured a handful of nightmare scenarios and he was filled with a sense of dread. The rush of protective feelings toward Samantha and their kids hit him like a cargo sled at full tilt.

And yet, despite their attempts to make up for lost time, they still hardly knew each other. Was she a Doctor!? That had never come up before!?

Dakora: =/\= On my way. Dakora out. =/\=

He tried valiantly to limit himself to a brisk power walk until he made it to the shuttle at exit, but as soon as his boots hit the corridor, his pace increased to a near jog.

After what felt like ages, the turbolift opened on Deck 7 and he darted into Sickbay, only barely managing to slow his pace back down to a brisk walk as he approached.

((Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Artemis))

Dakora: Samantha!?

He felt for her mind, confirming it was her behind the privacy field and stepped through it.

On the other side, he found Sam laying on the bio bed with some medical thingies on her stomach and Gila at her side.

Dakora: Are you ok? ::His gaze shifted to Gila.:: Is everything alright?

S. Richards: ::Looking up at him:: I’m sorry. I had some pain and I panicked, I just wanted to make sure they were okay. I shouldn’t have pulled you away from something likely more important than this…

He shook his head, but the concerned look didn't fade.

Dakora: Of course you should call me. ::He reached out and grabbed her hand.:: You said you were in pain? What’s wrong?

S. Richards: ::Smiling before turning her attention back to the doctor.:: So… Are they okay? Do you know why I’m having this pain?

Sadar: Response

He listened to the doctor's diagnosis, and felt better, but still a bit nervous.

Dakora: Ok… ok. That's- That's good. ::Uncertainly:: Right?

Samantha nodded, asking a question of her own.

S. Richards: So this is all normal? Oh… I’m sorry. I feel a little silly now…

He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze.

Dakora: There's nowhere else I'd rather be. ::Looking to Gila.:: And I'm sure Doctor Sadar would rather you be safe than sorry.

Sadar: Response

A sort of awkward silence settled over the trio as the fledgling parents accepted that there seemed to be nothing to worry about.

It was only then that he realized the shocking and probably uncomfortable position they'd thrust poor Gila into.

Dakora: Thank you, Doctor. And I'm sorry for any…uh… the surprise of this… situation.

Sadar/Richards: Response

He frowned, casting his eyes to the floor for a moment, then back to Gila.

Dakora: It's not exactly public information yet. It's a sort of unexpected recent development. I would appreciate your discretion until I figure out just how I'm going to tell the Captain about this…

Sadar/Richards: Response
