to USS Artemis-A – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
((USS Artemis, deck 2,Holodeck 1))
One of the new officers had joined him in the holodeck. Vitor widened his smile as he walked towards the newcomer. He opened his arms, waving them to the bare holodeck walls.
Silveira: It will be, once I finish it. I admit I got excited and lost time playing some of them.
Eventually I will build the walls, arrange the games and then everyone can use them.
::Vitor raised an inquisitive eyebrow:: Have you ever seen something like this?
Imril: Yeah. I played on some machines like these in a hotel in Las Vegas. No idea if they were reproductions or genuine antiques. There weren’t nearly as many as you’ve set up here, though. So if they were vintage, maybe that’s all of the real deal they could get their hands on.
The Ensign circled around some of the arcades, one apparently caught his attention, but Vitor didn’t see which one.
Imril: Before that -- what made me notice those games at all -- somebody in one of my history classes at the Academy did a presentation on the Video Game Crash of 1983. It was in the context of North American capitalism, but really I think he was just trying to scramble an excuse for getting caught playing a tribble-hunting game on his padd in class.
Vitor nodded, surprised by the Ensign’s reply.
Maybe he had found someone to help him finish this project.
Silveira: I see you are a person of culture. ::Vitor raised his hand to Ril.:: And please, we are off duty, call me Vitor or Sil. I am a strong believer of informality. ::He winked at Ril.:: It's a pleasure to meet you.
Imril: Thanks. You too, Vitor.
He noticed that Ril was looking at his PADD, and he wondered if the was on a schedule.
Imril couldn't help looking at their padd for a quick look at the lunch break timer. To find out to the minute how long they had until it was back to Lieutenant Silveira.
As usual Vitor already took the liberty to find a “suitable callsign” for his newly acquainted comrade. He tipped his head, planting his trademark grin on his face .
Silveira: By the way, do you mind if I call you Ril? I have this nasty habit of taking informality a little too far.
Imril: I’d rather just keep to Imril, if it’s alright. ::Looking around once more:: Do you mind if I make a suggestion for an addition? If it doesn't go against your theme here, that is? There were some other rigs in that Vegas game collection that I ended up really liking and ended up spending more time on than the video games. ::turning back to Vitor with a smile:: Pinball machines!
Vitor nodded. So Imril it was. And pinball? That was a good idea.
Silveira: That’s an awesome suggestion Imril. I was already getting some pool tables. Pinball will fit nicely. Thank you.
Imril: ?
Vitor smiled and pointed to Imril.
Silveira: Are you busy? I might just recruit you over lunch.
Imril:
Vitor widened his smile and opened his arms.
Silveira: I got all these machines, but I need a proper building and disposition for them. Since you're an Engineer… Also I overspent all my holodeck time today.
Imril:
