((USS Artemis, Corridor))

It was a slow day on the Artemis, so slow it was the first time she had found herself wandering the halls of the Artemis since she first joined. Even if the Luna class wasn’t as big as a Galaxy class it still had plenty of opportunities to explore, she had already frequented the Elysium which was the best place to get hasperat other than her own personal supply.

There was of course the holodeck where she found an arcade made by Lieutenant Silveira, their tactical officer. The very same tactical officer that had been called out her name.

Silveira: AL FROM THE HELM.

Al From the Helm turned around confused towards the tactical officer that was calling her by a very informal name. He had skipped the Bajoran customs from Family name to given name and immediately went for a nickname.

Next to him was a red-headed human she had never seen before.

Lyara: Uh… hi?

Silveira: Hi… Sorry but I couldn’t resist. Let me introduce you to a friend of mine. ::Turning to Sam:: Sam Richards, Scientist and seamstress extraordinaire, one of our visitors from Amity during Frontier Day. ::Gesturing to Al:: Our Operations and Helmswoman, Alroyo Lyara…

Lyara slightly grimaced at him getting the order of her name wrong. She knew it was uncommon for a lot of species in the Federation to have a “Family, Given” naming convention. If anything, the most common was to not have a family name at all. But, it still made her internally cringe whenever anyone got the order wrong.

Silveira: I hope I got the order right, if I am not mistaken Bajorans have their family name first, right? Also You don’t mind if I call you Al, I hope?

Initially she was opposed to allowing the officer she barely knew to refer to her as Al. But it was unique enough and strangely cute for her to not say yes. The only nickname she had was “Royo” but only her parents and one of her closest friends were allowed to call her that. However, the more she pondered it the less she disliked the idea.

Lyara: Yes, Bajorans do have their family name first. ::She thought for a moment:: I’m not… opposed to being called Al.

S. Richards: ::Raising her hand and giving a small wave:: Hiya!

Alroyo returned the wave to Sam’s little “Hiya!” which was a cute little greeting. Maybe she could appropriate it for her own use too.

Silveira: Fair enough, do you have any plans? Care to join us?

She had nothing better to do, and their motley crew seemed like they could get into all sorts of shenanigans.

Lyara: I think I could keep y’all company.

S. Richards: We’d love to have another partner in crime. ::Smirking:: You definitely fit the vibe.

Lyara raised her eyebrow and gave a slight chuckle at her compliment.

Silveira: We are going on a slight detour to my quarters so I can change. Sam made me a Toga and I want to be parading it all over DS224.

S. Richards: The only person to ever be this excited to wear a toga…

She didn’t even know what a toga was but couldn’t help but teem with excitement as they approached the turbolift together.

Lyara: I know that I’m pretty excited based on the way you guys are talking it up.

As they entered the turbolift Sam seemed distracted by something as she did a double take.

S. Richards: Does anyone else see that?

Alroyo looked to where she had pointed out and saw what looked like to her a man in a hat walking away.

Silveira: Response

Lyara: What’s goin’ on?

Sam shook her head.

S. Richards: Oh… Uh, nothing. I thought I saw something but I must have been mistaken.

Silveira: Response

Lyara: You’ll have to point it out next time then.

Silveira/S. Richards: Response

The turbolift doors closed as it started to begin its ascent to the deck where Silveira’s quarters are located.

Lyara: So, for this parading of the toga are we gonna do it all over DS224 or just stick to the promenades?

Silveira/S. Richards: Response

Lyara: Wait, you sewed it yourself?

Alroyo didn’t know many people who even knew what a needle was, so the fact someone could make a robe from antiquity sounded marvelous to her.

S. Richards: Response

Lyara: By the Prophets, this may very well be your calling. You could charge bars of latinum for these!

Of course she couldn’t get away with bars, strips however she probably could.

S. Richards: Response

Silveira: Response
