((Security Training Facilities - Security Centre - USS Artemis-A))
As repentance for using improper use of a type 2 phaser, Natasha had been tasked with logging inventory updates for armory restock along with cross-checking incident reports from the recent boarding incident. She had found herself an office just off the training facilities to work.
She had a computer simulation running to see how they could improve response times while she worked. Something about having the subtle background noise helped her focus. Until she heard the subtle click-click of nails on the deck followed by a soft whuff.
Natasha knelt down seeing the small dog make its way towards her. Once she was down she slowly extended her arm with her palm open and up. She knew to let any domesticated animal, especially dogs take the lead in making new friends. She couldn’t help but smile at the dog.
Cole: ::to the dog:: If you’re here to apply for K-9 duty, I’ll need to see your credentials and a chew toy.
Munro: Oh I thought I was alone. I'm sorry ensign.
Cole: ::letting Suzie sniff her hand:: Nothing to be sorry about. ::looking up at Munro, seeing her rank and immediately standing:: I should apologize, Sir. ::extending her hand still holding her PADD with her reports, before swapping it to the other:: Ensign Natasha Cole, Security.
Munro: :: jokes :: She only looks terrifying. Harmless really. Like me. Nice to meet you, I'm Commander Munro, the new XO and that’s Suzie, the dog.
Hearing Suzie’s yelp gave Natasha a bit of comfort; she chose to believe it was a more approving sound.
Cole: Welcome aboard, Commander. ::jokes:: I assume Suzie outranks me now?
Glancing
down she offered Suzie a friendly smile, but not to stare to startle. Turning she
set her PADD down, before turning back towards the Commander.
Cole: Command shuffled a bit recently,
I know some of us are still finding our footing, especially after Galaris IV.”
Her tone didn't press, but it offered a window—a quiet acknowledgment that the
crew, while steady, was recovering.
Cole: Let me know what you need to feel squared away here, sir. We’re good at locking doors and creatively opening them when we have to.”
Munro: Response.
Natasha listened intently to the Commander, as her simulation pinged that it was finished. She fought the urge to pull up the results, didn’t want to be rude and waited for the Commander to finish.
Munro: Response.
Cole: Oh that I was just running a simulation of our recent encounter with the Orion Syndicate. We had been boarded, fortunately we managed to contain them, but I wanted to see what could be done to improve our response time.
Munro: Response.
Cole: Would you care for a guided tour of the security suite, Commander?
Munro: Response.
