((Ready Room - Deck 01 - USS Artemis))
Talos paused in front of the ready room door, taking a moment to brush an errant piece of lint from his black-on-black uniform, before activating the chime. A slight smirk settled on his face as he imagined how many nervous Ensigns had stood in this very spot, not knowing what they were about to walk into.
Having returned from his temporary reassignment just before the tail-end of their last mission, he supposed he was due for a check-in and the requisite haranguing that came with it. At least this time there had been some developments that would warrant a good grilling.

The doors parted with a whirr of their electronic motors and Talos stepped into her office. Immediately, his eyes were drawn to the spartan metal desk that stood where her old nice, wooden desk had been. He still hadn’t quite lived that one down.
Dakora: Captain. ::He bowed his head a little in greeting.:: Thought it was about time I stopped hiding below decks and showed my face.
MacKenzie: Response
He dropped into the chair across the desk from her and made himself comfortable while keeping his posture on just the right side of respectful. Talos would be lying if he said he hadn’t enjoyed the sudden, rapid decrease in his responsibilities that came with going from XO to an Intel Officer– at least, for a brief period– but it didn’t take long for him to start to feel a little bored by the comparably easy duties.
Dakora: The Intel Report for the last mission has been submitted, by the way. Clean, compartmentalized, and just vague enough to keep anyone up the chain from asking too many questions. ::beat:: The bits we agreed to omit... stayed omitted.
MacKenzie: Response
The less they talked about that subject the better, as far as he was concerned. He agreed with their reasoning, but it still wasn’t precisely by the book. Not that much of his life had been by the book lately.
Dakora: Right. Of course. Were you able to do some catching up with Commodore Nicholotti? ::He grinned.:: I’m sure Genkos was thrilled to have her around for a while.
MacKenzie: Response
He shifted in his chair, as he tried to figure out how to approach the next subject. It felt more personal than the two of them typically ventured, but it was also the sort of thing that she would need to know as his CO. Especially if he returned to his previous position at some point in the future.
Dakora: Speaking of that… ::He paused, screwing up his face a bit.:: Well, not that, specifically. But, I… uh… have some personal news.
MacKenzie: Response
