(( Holodeck 3, Deck 222, DS 224 ))

After being ordered to ‘wait here’ by Bergmen, Natasha decided to be proactive and brace the blast door to Main Engineering open. It wouldn’t hold forever but in a pinch it would buy them time, and that was a valuable resource at the moment.

While she waited, due to the onset of radiation poisoning she was ‘visited’ by a hallucination of Solan, her father whom she hadn’t seen in over a decade (the real one not the hallucination), they had a relatively simple back and forth reminding Natasha of the difficult relationship the two have.

Solan-Hallucination: Radiation doesn’t care how brave you think you are, ::dismissively:: Girl.

Cole: ::glancing the time:: =/\= Three minute warning Lieutenant. =/\=

Cole: Maybe, but you know I’ve never been one to give up. Even if choosing my own happiness cost me you.

The static over the com caused her to snap her attention back to the propped open door to Main Engineering. Squinting she focused her hearing.

Imril: =/\= Im … ole, cha… of …ans. Lt. … rm ne … u. =/\=

She spotted someone waving a beckoning hand under the door, she really hoped this wasn’t another radiation induced hallucination. However she didn’t even hesitate and ran for the door, sort of doing a half slide under it. Imril helped her to her feet and brought her up to speed. She gave thumbs up and joined Bergmen and Storm.

Storm motioned for Bergmen to lead the way, and thought she was about to return that gesture to her. The Lieutenant beat her to it, placing Natasha in the middle.

Solan-Hallucination: They’re humoring you, boy. Just like I used to.

Cole: oO Would you shut up. Oo

He continued to taunt her, his voice cut through her skull like broken glass, using that old name, the one she’d buried years ago.

Storm:  =/\=  We ::comms static:: long way to ::comms static:: ort time to ::comms static:: =/\=

Natasha shocked her head staying focused, she’d be damned if be the cause of them failing. She held her thumb up so Lieutenant Storm could see it, acknowledging she heard part of what was said.

Bergman: Response

They made their way to a Jefferies Tube, which seemed to be their chosen path. Turning to check on Lieutenant Storm, she looked like she might have been sweating profusely. Then why did Natasha feel cold? It had to be another symptom of radiation poisoning. When this was over she definitely needed to commend Bergmen on his handy work.

Storm:  =/\= Five levels ::comms static:: ly five min ::comms static:: =/\=

Cole: =/\= Comms seem to be improving somewhat. =/\=

Bergman: Response

As they climbed she could feel her hand tremble, another symptom. She took it one rung at a time.

Solan-Hallucination: You think they can’t see your hands shaking?

Cole: oO He’s not really here, just focus Oo

Hearing the sound of something below her, she glanced down and saw Lieutenant Storm catching herself on a rung. Was she being affected by the radiation too? All of them had to be at this point.

Storm:  =/\= ::comms static:: fine.  Let’s keep go ::comms static:: =/\=

Natasha pressed forward even with the tremble she was starting to get in her hands she was on Bergmen’s heels. They were almost at their destination.

Solan-Hallucination: Bergmen’s the one with the brains. Storm’s the one with the guts. What’s left for you? Tell me Is this the best you could do with your life? A background player in someone else’s plan?

Cole: ::ignoring Solan:: =/\= How’s the air up there Bergmen? =/\= Trying to add some levity.

Storm/Bergman: Response

Bergmen had positioned himself to help Natasha fully onto the decking, after what felt like forever on the ladder. As she reached for his hand her hand was shaking enough that he had to have noticed it. Even though it was shaking her grip was firm.

Cole: =/\= I’m really feeling the Radiation, Bergmen. I won’t lie, this is rougher than I expected. But we’ve got a job to do, and I’d rather limp beside you than sit on the sidelines. =/\=

She joined him in helping Lieutenant Storm up.

Cole: =/\= ::to Storm:: What’s the next step of the plan? =/\=

Storm/Bergman: Response

[[OOC: I had looked into potential side effects of Radiation poisoning, hence the hallucination. I figured Bergmen would likely have the protocols set that no one would actually die, but there would be risk during the drill.]]
