((Fitness Center, Deck 4 - USS Artemis))
Vitor had joined Salkath in what was a sort of Vulcan Tai Chi. As they exercised and spoke the thoughts of some fights he's been in crossed his mind.
And he had to break from the position after admitting he had lost control.
Vitor smiled sadly at Salkath, but before he could reply T'Nil was giving them a new position.
T'Nil: This next pose requires a threshold of limberness and dexterity. Simulate it as best you can.
That one looked familiar and Vitor took a deep breath before attempting it. In an effort of trying to steer the conversation from his fights he evaded Salkath's question, posing one himself.
Silveira: Strange selection of positions. Do they have a meaning?
Salkath: Try to maintain even breathing throughout the pose. ::then directly addressing the question:: Each one utilizes a different muscle group, with the end result being a holistic full body engagement.
Silveira: I don’t see a… Logic in them.
T'Nil: Keep holding this pose...
Salkath: As each move progresses to the next, it stimulates sympathetic muscle groups and joints. It also serves to drain the lymphatic system, bringing relaxation and a sense of peacefulness. If you apply the meditative mindset to the sequence as well, it enhances those same feelings.
So it was confirmed. Vitor was attending a Vulcan Tai Chi class.
Silveira: I see. I meant that in martial arts there is a certain… Routine and connection between movements and positions.
T'Nil: ::focusing on a Bolian in the back row:: Is that... are you eating a sandwich!? Unacceptable!
Salkath: In the end, these series of exercises are more tradition than they are martial, so in that sense, there may be less logic than expected. Tradition and logic are not always compatible, even though both are important.
Vitor raised an eyebrow, surprised by Salkath’s last sentence. It was true, but he had the impression that Vulcans viewed tradition differently.
Silveira: Curious.
Their instructor was about to give them new instructions.
T'Nil: Our next pose involves - Crewman! I must insist that you cease eating, or I'll have to ask you to leave!
Salkath: ::with the merest of eyebrow raises:: It must be a good sandwich.
Vitor narrowed his eyes at the Bolian.
Silveira: I hope so. And I will let my rational side win over my emotions, and think he must have a good reason for eating it now.
Salkath: Response
Silveira: I am considering he hasn't got a chance to eat, after pulling a double shift, and that he finds this class beneficial, so he's just made a mistake by trying to do both things.
Salkath: Response
Vitor smiled at Salkath.
Silveira: Well, we have that expression that says “to err is human”
Salkath: Response
