(( Corridor to Industrial Exhaust Manifold 01 - Facility KTF-031 - Medara, Betazed ~2376 ))
Jaseb felt his blood boil at the sound of Nieramu's voice, which was carefree and filled with lies. It was like a dagger to his heart, and he couldn't help but turn to Savel and Dakora to see if they were ready. Nikka gave Jaseb a quick tap on the shoulder, and he nodded in silent acknowledgment. Jaseb raised his hand to signal the start of the countdown. The tension in the air was palpable as they all waited for the moment when they would spring into action.
‘Three,’ Jasebs' finger dropped in the count. ‘two, one…’
Jaseb leaned out with Nikka and threw two grenades around the corner. The clanging noise of the grenades hitting the cold concrete surface caught the attention of the Jem'Hadar. One of the Jem'Hadar tried to pick up the grenades and throw them back, but it was too late. The fuses ignited, and the Jem'Hadar were trapped in a confined space with no escape, doomed to the explosion.
Jaseb reacted swiftly, instinctively knowing that the situation called for caution. He quickly peeked out around the corner and observed the scene before him. He saw Savel and Dakora making their way down the corridor with purposeful strides. They moved in a tactical formation, ready to take up a defensive position at the spot where the Jem'Hadars had fallen. Jaseb watched them closely, his heart racing as he prepared for any possible outcome.
Chevalier: Ready?
Nikka gently tapped Jaseb on the shoulder, signaling for him to follow the rest of the group. They moved forward cautiously through the dimly lit corridor, walking beside Savel and Dakora. As they advanced, Jaseb noticed the fallen Jem'Hadars lying on the ground. He knelt beside them and quickly checked their weapons with Dakora's help while Savel and Nikka watched the corridor's exit. The dust from the commotion had barely settled when the four of them stepped out in unison formation. The tension in the air was palpable as they moved forward, their senses alert for any signs of danger, as each took up positions to cover their own sector of fire as they advanced slowly, seeking the nearest cover.
Jaseb looked into Nieran’s shocked eyes while Nieran’s hand slid to his disruptor.
Chevalier: Nieran! You traitor!
Savel/Dakora: Response?
Jaseb locked Nieran through the crosshairs. The tension in the air was palpable, and every passing second felt like an eternity. Jaseb's mind raced as he aimed his weapon, his heart pounding. Despite the chaos around him, he felt a strange calmness wash over him—a sense of detachment from the world around him.
The scorching heat of the plasma weapon hummed in the air, casting a fiery glow across the room. Jaseb's senses were heightened, and every muscle tensed as he prepared to fire. Suddenly, he threw himself backward just based on his unconscious reflexes reaction, narrowly avoiding the blazing plasma as it hurtled past his face. In the same motion, he pulled the trigger and fired.
Nikka: Jem’Hadars!
The world around them reawakened, moving at an almost unimaginable speed. With quick thinking, Jaseb curled up and found cover behind a nearby crate while he surveyed the area, focusing on Nieran. His shot was a close miss, only grazing Nieran, who quickly took cover for his own safety.
Savel/Dakora: Response
Jaseb nodded and provided cover fire to help them move to a better position. The situation quickly deteriorated. They were obviously burned, and their plan F lacked weapons, bodies, and everything except the Jem’Hadars they could shoot at.
Chevalier:::to Dakora:: Sir, we're gonna need to pull back if we don't connect with the second group before they overwhelm us. ::to Savel:: Do you see any sign of them?
Savel/Dakora: Response
It felt like all worries disappeared in the hopelessness of the situation. Jaseb was crouching behind a rusty crate that was being hit by the deafening disruptor shots. He looked over at Dakora and gave him a reassuring nod. Their situation couldn't have been worse - they were cornered with no way out. Disruptors echoed through the maintenance room as Jaseb searched for an escape, but found none. He resigned himself to the only option left: sacrifice. A smile appeared on his face as he recollected one of his father's lessons, which he had many for his undesired son, on honor and their duty to the Father and a nation.
