(( Monastery Camp, Callis 1 ))

She held the canteen up for the Ensign to drink.

Cole: You should drink all of this. ::To charlotte:: We might want to hold them together on their sides just in case.

Syn: ::skittish and afraid:: I'll do it! I'll do it. D-don't force it down, please. I just need a second.

Once she was sure the Ensign had drunk their ‘Medicine’ she stepped to the side and helped Charlotte hold the Ensign.

Cole: I feel like someone should recite some Latin or something. ::beat:: Scio me nihil scire

Syn: ::eyes closed, brows knit:: Is that some kind of earth custom? All I know about Latin is that it's a dead language. I'd rather not share its likeness in that regard quite yet.

After a tense moment of the absolute stillness and silence of Nat and Charlotte holding the Ensign up right … nothing.

Suddenly in the tense silence she heard it, the gurgle of someone's stomach … still nothing.

Did she just convince them to drink dirty water for no reason? If this wasn’t ingestion related, she might have just made it worse.

As if on cue the Ensign lurched forward and expelled the water they just drank.

Cole: Don’t move Sairrek? ::checking pupils:: Track my finger.

Natasha watched the Ensigns eyes for a long moment. They were slow to respond as she moved her finger from left to right and then back.

She was wrong; this wasn’t because of something they had eaten … this was a concussion, and likely a bad one.

Storm: Not much of a light, but you did leave it on for us, so thanks!

The sound of Alex and the Captain making their way into the makeshift camp snapped her attention from the Ensign.

Storm: Look what we found! And there’s more where these came from.

Alex and the Captain showed off their new equipment, which Nat hoped the Ensign would behave themselves.

Syn: ::slurring:: With your powers combined, you should be able to get my head off in one chop no problem!

Charlotte and Nat both grimaced a bit. Syn was clearly not doing well. She was grateful that they were done expelling the charcoal smoothie.

MacKenzie: Everyone gather your equipment. We found a space in the city with gear that is more secure... But we don't have much time - it will be dark soon.

Brexis: Aye Sir.

Charlotte wasted no time gathering what little supplies remained.

Storm: I didn’t go looking for any, but I wonder if there’s any soap in that store.  That would be worth its weight in gold at the moment.

Alex bent over to pick up her canteen, as she did she adjusted a loose strand of hair.

Storm: And shampoo.  Definitely shampoo.

Cole: I could kill for a good soak.

Syn: ::dazed:: Are we leaving?

MacKenzie: ::to Cole:: Are you able to help it?

Cole: We ruled out it being something they ate. Judging by their pupil's response I think it might be a delayed concussion, but my medical experience is limited to a crash course from Dr. Morgan.

Brexis: ::To Storm:: Do you need me to carry anything else.

Storm: We don’t have too much to carry.  We’ll want some firewood to get a fire started in the upstairs fireplace.  But really, anything else we might want, other than food, is likely already there.

Natasha knelt down and positioned Syn in a way that let her firemen carry the ensign. It took her a moment to make sure she was carrying him correctly. Once she was sure she took a step

Syn: ::leaning heavily on their guard:: Sure you don't wanna lock me up here, come back later?

Brexis: Nah, we are bringing you in case one of the creatures comes after us. You are bait, my friend.

Natasha admittedly tried to hold back a laugh, but it came out, she was admittedly exhausted with handling the Ensigns downward spiral. Hopefully the Captain would understand.

Storm: Other than what little food we have, I don’t think we need to take much with us other than firewood and our canteens, don’t you think?  I think the store has most anything we could need.

Cole: This place sounds promising. ::spinning a little to glance at Alex:: Hopefully you're not over-selling it.

Before exiting their shared home for the past week, Natasha was grateful for the shelter it was able to provide. Glancing around the room one last time her eyes settled on the remains. Hopefully whatever gods they worshipped would show them mercy.

Exiting the building she kept pace with everyone as they moved at a steady walk so as to not make loads of noise. Attracting the attention of the Darklings was not high on her to do list tonight.

Syn: ::giggling at the edge of sanity:: Hello, little beasties. ::turning to Brexis:: Aren't they cute like this?

Natasha rotated herself slightly looking around for any signs of unexpected company and then to Charlotte and Alex, who weren’t showing signs of telepathic strain

Brexis: Sure thing buddy. ::booping them on the nose:: They sure are.

Cole: Shhh Bright eyes, those aren’t real.

They reached the new building that MacKenzie and Storm discovered for them to take shelter in. Right off the bat it looked better than the place they were before. The Captain got the door open and allowed everyone to file in without having to set their things down.

((Storefront - Callis I))

MacKenzie: Home, sweet home. ...Again.

Brexis: It’s not our ship… But it’s better than where we were. Thanks Sir.

Charlotte flashed MacKenzie a smile.

Once everyone was inside, Alex brought up the rear, slipping inside.

Storm:  If you find any soap, don’t hoard it all to yourselves.  Hopefully, there’s more than enough to go around.

Cole: It might take a little time, but who knows what treasures we’ll find. ::setting Syn down and leaning them against the wall:: How are you feeling?

Syn: Response

MacKenzie: Storm, secure the doors and windows. Cole and Syn, see if you can get a fire started. Brexis, see if there's a pot somewhere around here... I want to try cooking the berries down into a jam and see if that makes them more tolerable for our delirious crew member...

Brexis: Sure thing. Let me see what I can find.

Storm:  Fireplace is upstairs.  There was a kitchen-like room.  It may already have a pot in it, Charlotte.  Through that door down there, and up the stairs.

Natasha looked towards where Alex gestured, making mental note of what she was saying. Picking up some of the wood, she gestured to Syn to grab more and follow her.

Cole: That would be a great place for a fire actually. Come one Ensign lets go.

Syn: Response

MacKenzie: Oh, and I forgot the best part of our new abode - separate rooms.

Natasha stopped in her tracks and turned towards the Captain. After a week of eventually sleeping together in a room the thought of being able to stretch out and not waking someone else up was glorious.

Brexs: Best gift you could have given me. ::patting her chest over her heart:: Thanks Sir.

Storm:  I’ll take the first watch down here.  But if you scrounge up anything to eat, let me know.

Cole: ::Smiling:: Captain, you spoil us.

Syn: Response

Natasha led Syn up the stairs, and surveyed the area. Sure enough a modest fireplace set ready for them to use. She had them hand her the fire wood as she made a simple stack leaving gaps for airflow. Using scraps from the bits that broke apart as kindling, she struck at the stone with a knife a few times till the sparks caught and the kindling started to smoke as the ambers started to grow into flame.

It felt like things were starting to turn around for them. Tomorrow they will start fresh and with a renewed sense of hope. And that was just as important to their survival as food or water.
