(( Bridge - Deck 1, USS Artemis-A ))

As Meris and Luirétt worked at Mission Ops to piece together the path that had brought them here, the rest of the bridge remained busy coordinating the away teams. When Meris felt they had found the answer to the Captain's question, they spoke up.

Meris: Captain, I believe we have it.

The J'naii pilot motioned for Luirétt to join them and began to walk down to the command deck.

Munro: Ensign Meris, you have just made me a very happy woman. What you got?

Meris: The Boraxian colony ship is leaking theta radiation from one of their subspace transceivers. ::pointing to the viewscreen:: We tracked the discharge back to one of three likely systems the New Hope escaped to after their encounter with the Boraxian City Ship. I believe the most likely candidate is Adelphous.

Storm: That does sound like good news.

(( OOC: With Liv’s permission I’ve separated her line below into two different lines and inserted one of my own in between. ))

Munro: So we know what direction they are heading?

The J'naii pilot felt a spark of pride at having solved this particular puzzle but they kept their expression controlled. Not all their news was good.

Meris: But you asked for an ETA. I'm afraid the news on that front is not as encouraging. Luirétt indicated that after their encounter, they made a short warp jump to Adelphous, but since then have been traveling on impulse power for several hours. Assuming their sensors are as capable as ours, and they detected this theta radiation leak, the Boraxian City Ship could already have overtaken them. That suggests the only delay is the internal discussions Luirétt referenced earlier. ::pause:: They could be here any moment.

Munro: Luirétt, you may not know, but is it likely they would send out scout ships? ::swallows:: Or fighters? Our records don't have much detail beyond the trading vessels.

Luirétt: Response.

Ops Officer: Captain, we have something... several ships... one of them is...

Storm: I can confirm. We have... ::looks up at Munro:: Sir, we have ten ships on sensors. And one of them is a city ship.

Meris glanced at Luirétt, then placed a hand on the Mission Advisor’s seat to the left of the Captain's chair and spoke quietly to the Yurum leader.

Meris: Please, sit here. I will need to take my station.

Luirétt: Response.

Once Meris was satisfied that Luirétt was settled and would not be in Captain Munro’s way, they moved to the fore of the bridge. Placing a hand lightly on the shoulder of the relief officer at the helm, they waited as the Kazarite Chief Petty Officer nodded, rose, and stepped aside. Meris slid into position and immediately accessed the sensors, pulling up the analysis of the incoming ships.

Munro: On screen.

Storm transferred the visual of the incoming ships to the main viewer.

Meris: Captain, all of the vessels are of similar design to the Boraxian colony vessel. They vary in age, with some appearing as old as the colony ship. However, the three lead vessels seem to be of a newer vintage. Based on metallurgical analysis, I would estimate less than five years in service.

oO The tip of the spear. Oo

From the side, Meris heard Lieutenant Storm’s console pinging with a tactical analysis. They swallowed past the lump in their throat. The Boraxians’ tech level was roughly equivalent to Starfleet’s - perhaps even slightly superior. What chance did the Artemis have against ten warships of equal capability?

oO It would appear they are taking this matter seriously. Oo

Luirétt: Response.

But of course, one ship dwarfed the rest - the Boraxian City Ship itself. An entire city cocooned in glass and steel, its spires stabbing upward toward the stars like spears. And it had brought a gaggle of warships with it.

oO It appears the internal discussions were about how much protection the City Ship should travel with. Oo

Munro: I guess they wanted to say hello.

(( End of Act One for Meris. ))
