((USS Artemis-A - Deck 3))
Zoyara admired the horg'ahn as she placed it on to the otherwise bare shelf. It had been painted in the beautiful blues and yellows of the lagoon creatures she’d swam with. Luxa had always said that you should fill your quarters with things that reminded you of the moments you want to remember forever.
She wanted to remember that feeling of freedom and joy forever. She had felt free in that unexpected moment. Even Dakora's presence couldn't have ruined that.
She didn't care what the item represented to others, for her it was a moment she would never forget.
Vailani: Maybe it’s time to start painting more colours.
She let out a silly laugh and then placed her hand over her mouth to stop herself. Except she kept laughing and then almost as sudden as the laughter came on she felt tears fall down her cheek. A wave of sadness overcame her in that moment.
oO we've never been to the beach Oo
The slow dawning realisation that, as children, she and her brothers had never gone to the beach. Or anywhere that wasn't a test, or a pre-planned excursion that would lead to a test. Until today, she had never danced in the carelessly joyful way a child does.
These tears were sad for all the times she hadn't danced but she was happy that she had done, and now she knew what it felt like.
She enjoyed it.
While she was in this reverie the door chime alerted her to a visitor. She was still dressed in her skirted swimsuit. She quickly pulled a woven blanket she had bought on Risa from a bag nearby.
oO who could that be? Oo
She paused at the door to wipe her eyes and cheeks and once she was sure that all evidence of her weakness was gone she commanded the computer to open the door. When it opened there was no one there. Then she looked down … to find someone’s bottom pointed up at her?
Vailani: :: horrified :: Is this some kind of a joke?!
All sentimentality was forgotten as each second that passed just made her more angry.
Tho’Bi: Response
The Andorian bounced back up immediately. The short Bajoran stepped forward, drawing closer to the Andorian with each word.
Vailani: Listen to me very carefully, ensign. I never cared for JOPA when I was an ensign and I don’t care for it now. If you come here again I’ll -
She had to stop when she got so close to him her head was all the way back as she strained her neck to keep her eye contact with the very tall Andorian. He used this pause to interject.
Tho’Bi: Response
Vailani: Really?! I might be new on this ship but -
The ensign lifted a PADD, as a shield or an explanation it was hard to tell at this point. She rolled her eyes at the seemingly nervous ensign.
Tho’Bi: Response
Vailani: I’m more than capable of changing the thermometer in my own room.
She had never seen an Andorian blush with embarrassment before. Or at least she hoped that was what the shade of purple now colouring his cheeks was.
Vailani: Very well.
She moved aside and let him pass, not without another eye roll.
