((Shrine of the Blessed Exchequer, Shore of Kentar Sea, Ferenginar))
Munro: Nothing looks like it's bleeding :: looks a bit closer :: How's your hip, it looked like it took the brunt of the fall?
The ensign had taken a spill down a few of the steps, Ava had managed to redirect the fall, if a little clumsily, so that they didn't careen all the way to the bottom bouncing on stone steps.
She wasn't sure MacKenzie would appreciate the XO getting the newest ensign almost killed.
When they winced she extended her arms, urging them to be cautious when they moved.
Jaran: Oh, I'll be stopping by sickbay when we get back for an analgesic, for sure. But if you think I'm not making it to the top, then you're mistaken.
Ava couldn't help but be impressed by the doctor's tenacity… she had no idea this was some kind of a challenge.
Jira gave a short laugh and a small smile at that and started back up the steps. A little slower than before. Ava slowed her own pace, it was better to be careful than fast.
Jaran: What are you expecting to find at the top? Did the brochures say anything?
Munro: I didn't check. I thought it was more fun to discover?
Jaran: Well, whatever we find I'm sure will be illuminating. And will probably cost us some latinum in the process.
Ava laughed, and nodded in agreement. She mused herself with how much one shore leave on Ferenginar must cost the Federation.
Munro: It is called the Blessed Exchequer :: taps her pockets :: I brought some slips.
They continued to ascend, and as they got closer to the top, a sort of buzzing or other low noise started to become noticeable.
Jaran: Do you hear that? That sound from the top?
Munro: Chatter?
As they neared they could see some robed Ferengi raise latinum bars towards a large statue that was the same shape as the scrawlings they saw earlier.
Barely audible they were chanting.
Jaran: Response
Munro: What are they saying?
The robed ones barely reacted to their presence. Ava assumed this was another show for tourists, not unlike what she'd seen at the Slug-nasium and the Christmas market she had attended.
Jaran: Response
Munro: I think this is just for our entertainment.
Just as she said that another robed individual emerged from a small door under the statue, pushing a wooden crate. The ‘priests’ placed the Latinum bars inside the crate before he moved towards them.
Ferengi ‘Priest’: Make your deposit to the Brotherhood of the Exchequer :: bows respectfully :: Think carefully about the sum of your deposit or you may be condemned to the pits.
Munro: Is this the Ferengi afterlife?
Jaran: Response
