((Counsellor's Officer - Deck 7 - USS Artemis-A))

Lori Lux was nervous. Or rather, the Lux symbiont was nervous, a transference that passed from host to host. It was becoming easier for her to manage the feeling of trepidation each and every time Lori travelled from one location to the next. At least she no longer felt like vomiting.

As a psychologist she understood the desire of the Lux symbiont to protect itself, after the tragic death of its first host, and the subsequent drive that then instilled in each host thereafter - all of whom, except Lori, had remained on Trill. The Symbiosis Commission had considered preventing another joining but the Guardians felt that Lori had the relevant experience, attitude and patience to become the new host of the Lux symbiont.

The counselling suites offered some sense of normalcy, a tranquil place within the epicentre of a busy starship. She inhaled the air, infused with a formula that was designed to involve calm. It reminded her of the ocean, and the beautiful bays on Trill.

Within the area that would become her office she had the area up very specifically, which she hoped would create a welcoming space for therapy.

The wall, directly across from the entrance ,was lined with replications of wonderful Trill art; a heady mix of swirling colours and bold prints - underneath were a collection of novels written by one of her former hosts, that she had printed in the Trill language. There was a small table, placed on it were several books, that she swapped out depending on the client - all paper varieties - and pale blue glass bottles filled with water, or whatever counted as hydration to the person she intended to drink it with. There were only two chairs in the room, at either side of the small table.

One for the client that faced the door and the other positioned closely to the door was her own.

It was time for her first client, she approached the door. Which she had requested be replaced with a handle, and hinge feature. There was something in the act of opening a door and allowing someone to enter that she found primed her clients for the act of opening their own doors, within their minds.

She pulled on it, and it glided opened and  with a careful smile she observed the woman at the other side. Alexandra Storm, a Betazoid. Dark eyes and dark hair.

Lux: Alexandra?

Storm: Response

She held the door open, and allowed the Artemis' new tactical officer to enter. She indicated the seat further from the door for her to sit on, as was customary. A precaution that all therapists were advised to take … as not all sessions would end well but she had every reason to think that this would not be one of those encounters. Thankfully.

Lux: :: indicates the bottles on the table :: Help yourself, if you feel thirsty or even if you need something to do with your hands.

Storm: Response

Lori took to her own seat, and adopted an open posture.

Lux: :: nods acknowledgement :: I've read your files that were sent from your previous therapist but I thought it would be helpful for both of us if you could tell me in your own words what brought you to therapy, perhaps share what it is you hope to gain from our sessions?

Storm: Response
