(( Counselor’s Office – Deck 7, USS Artemis-A ))

There was something there under that deflection, Vhysa’lia was certain. Something to be uncovered later, when Dr. Sadar was more comfortable talking to her.

Vhysa’lia: Oh, me? ::they give a knowing smile, Dr. Sadar, you’re deflecting!:: It gives me something to give back to my community. It’s hard to wake up in someplace new, surrounded by aliens, after ::pausing, trying not to be morbid:: something quite physically traumatic in most cases. Medicine and counseling are two sides of the same chip in that regard - I liked approaching the patients I’ve had holistically to minimize distress.

Sadar: I see. I suppose counseling and guidance must be important to Kobali culture, considering...

They nodded, yes, exactly. She was understanding, and that was all that Vhysa’lia could ask for.

Vhysa’lia: Yes, they most certainly are! It’s not always a smooth transition in our society, despite our best efforts. ::sigh::

Sadar: ::stands up:: W-Well, I won’t keep you any longer.

It seemed that she had overstayed her welcome. The good doctor looked like she was seconds from darting out the door, but that could have also just been her anxious disposition.

Vhysa'lia: Oh, don’t worry. You’re not keeping me from anything important. ::standing up as well:: It was a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Sadar.

Sadar: If you have any questions or concerns about your duties or how best to acclimatize to the Artemis, Commander Adea or Lieutenant Morgan will be serving as your direct superiors while you’re aboard. Consider yourself a colleague in the Medical Department, on the same terms as everyone else.

Vhysa'lia: ::sincere smile to Dr. Sadar:: Of course, I’ll be sure to reach out to them with anything I can think of. And I’ll be seeing you in sickbay, I presume. I’m looking forward to working with all of you aboard this ship.

With little fanfare, Dr. Sadar nodded and left the office, and Vhysa’lia was alone. The space was good, as they started to wander from where they had been sitting. With a jovial smile on her face, she rounded the desk, sitting down where the good doctor had just been sitting, minutes before. They’d seen how the patients would have experienced this office, now it was their turn to try on their new role.

From here, she could envision meeting her patients, talking them through their problems, learning what was causing them grief. It was different from the closer quarters of the reanimation quadrant of their ship, but everything was tight on space there. Even with no one else around, Vhysa’lia could feel her face breaking out into a wide grin - this was exciting.

Vhysa’lia: Wonderful!

She couldn’t wait to get started on her work. Starfleet didn’t mess around, did they?

End Scene for Vhysa’lia :)
