Captain’s Log, Stardate 240206.13
I have called for an immediate withdrawal of all Starfleet personnel from Galaris
IV. Despite arriving on the planet under the promise of a ceasefire, we have
evidence that both sides are guilty of having broken that truce. Given the total
lack of safety, I had no choice but to halt our investigation and return to the
ship. For now, we will have to analyze the readings we have and see where that
gets us. Given the progress on the dismantling of one of the Kobyar drones, the
assault and near execution my team faced on the planet, and the suspicions of
Major Oolwi, I feel that we likely have amassed enough material to continue our
investigation from the safety of the Artemis.
Now that all personnel are accounted for and have returned to the ship, I have called several members of the senior staff to my ready room for an update on the situation. We will also be preparing to host a representative from the Kobyar and Grunden governments to learn more about their respective roles and the information they hold.
If the Kobyar and Grunden are interested in peace, and finding out who or what is behind any alleged interference, then I hope they will continue to engage with us in a spirit of continued cooperation.

MacKenzie sat behind her desk, across
from Lieutenants Vailani, Silveira, and Sadar. Each of them had been
responsible for leading a team of officers in targeted aspects of the
investigation with each of the factions on Galaris IV. It was time to figure
out what they’d discovered so far and create a plan for how they’d proceed
forward, both with their investigation, and in navigating any interactions with
the Kobyar and Grunden governments moving forward.
MacKenzie: Sil, let’s start with
you. How far did you get with the drone dismantling and what did you learn?
Silveira: Response
She nodded definitively. It wasn’t
much, but it would certainly give them a place to start. If nothing else, they could
always ask the Kobyar if they could transport one of their units back to the
ship for study under safer conditions.
MacKenzie: Alright, Zoyara and Gila. What about you? What did you learn
in your time with the Grunden?
Vailani/Sadar: Response
MacKenzie cocked her head.
MacKenzie: You discovered who?
Vailani/Sadar: Response
She shook her head slowly.
MacKenzie: And they were where? What do you make of it?
Vailani/Sadar: Response
The commanding officer of the Artemis
rested her left elbow on the armrest of her chair. No sooner had her appendage
made contact, did she rest her head on that hand and start to massage her
forehead. After a moment, she sat straight up in her chair again.
MacKenzie: The Kobyar and Grunden
have each agreed to come aboard and share what they know and start a
conversation since this is neutral ground. We need to continue our
investigation and see what else we can learn. Lieutenant Vailani, where do you
think we should begin and how might you recommend we distribute teams?
Vailani: Response
Tag, and TBC!
