(( Holodeck 3, Deck 222, DS 224 ))
Meris had reported to the holodecks of Deep Space 224 to participate in an emergency drill being led by Lieutenant Bergmen. They had been assigned to Damage Control Team 2, under Lieutenant Alex Storm, and had the pleasure of working beside Doctor Roy Bancroft and Ensign Tho'Bi - both of whom they'd met only the day prior. Still, knowing them at all was a luxury given that Meris had only been assigned to the Artemis a handful of days earlier.
Bergmen: Radiation alert! Suit up!
Meris moved quickly to the lockers containing the lightweight environmental suits worn for hazardous work aboard the Artemis. Each suit was pre-packaged in a shrink-wrapped square, and they swiftly passed them to Storm, Bancroft, and Tho'Bi. The J’naii watched as the Andorian engineer began to don one, wondering if the generally one-size-fits-all garment would even fit the impossibly tall Son of Andor.
Next came the helmets. These were bulkier and could not be packaged as neatly as the environmental suits. Meris pulled two, handing them to Tho'Bi and Bancroft, then grabbed two more for Storm and themself. They fitted their own helmet into place with a satisfying clink and then looked to make sure everyone else had their helmets secured.
Storm/Bancroft: Response.
Bergmen: Lieutenant, take the corridor right from the DC room exit, and start evacuation to the upper decks. My team takes the corridor to the left. Try to get to the Main Engineering; we need to patch the breach or manually eject the warp core. Ok?
Storm: Response.
Meris: Aye, Lieutenant. We’re right behind you.
The helmsperson glanced back at Bancroft and Tho'Bi.
Tho'Bi: ::strong and clear:: Aye, aye, Lieutenant. Good to go.
Bancroft: Response.
As the team made their way out of the Damage Control Room, using the right exit as Bergmen had ordered, the doors along the corridor were already open. Emergency protocols dictated that, during an event like this, interior compartments would be opened to allow quick exit for those who might otherwise be trapped within and rapid clearing by teams like theirs.
Beside them, Tho'Bi had pulled out his tricorder.
Meris: Are you detecting any life signs in this section?
Tho'Bi: Response.
Before Tho'Bi could fully respond, a pair of crewmen emerged from the next compartment ahead of them and nearly collided with the damage control team. One was supporting the other, who appeared injured.
Storm/Bancroft: Response.
