The MacKenzieBot hologram flickered slightly as the collision registered in its subroutines. A holo-projector on its left shoulder dimmed, then recalibrated, realigning the shimmer of crisp duty reds across a flawless Starfleet uniform. It stood tall, hands clasped slightly behind its back, and turned toward the flustered ensign with a precision that suggested military efficiency or a well-timed product reveal. Possibly both.

MacKenzieBot: ::tilting head slightly:: Ensign Bancroft. You appear winded. Hydration is essential during pursuit of senior officers.

Bancroft: Response

The hologram’s eyes tracked him with uncanny precision… Slightly too still, blinking slightly too infrequently. Yet, its tone carried just enough warmth to suggest someone, somewhere, had tried very hard to simulate humanity.

There was a brief pause.

A brief pulse of light flashed across the MacKenzieBot’s chest, syncing with the advertisement's changing headline: Command Presence: What It Is, and Why You're Probably Not Doing It Right.

Bancroft: Response

The hologram’s head cocked slightly in a way that imitated the real Addison MacKenzie.

MacKenzieBot: ::cheerfully:: Would you like to record a short message for Captain MacKenzie? Suggested greetings include: Reporting for duty, ma’am. Your leadership inspires me daily. I regret hitting you with my shoulder even though you are composed entirely of photons and forcefields. Or, perhaps you would prefer directions to the nearest medbay?

Bancroft: Response

There was a pause as a Ferengi child poked the hologram, then ran off giggling. Unbothered, the MacKenzieBot reset its posture and leaned in ever so slightly.

MacKenzieBot: ::lower, almost conspiratorially:: She’s two levels up. Walking precisely 13% faster than her average promenade pace. If you sprint now, you may arrive… just in time to pretend this never happened. (beat) Also, your collar is still crooked.

The hologram faded and reappeared as the holo-projector reset, and then resumed its ad loop.
