In her wanderings on DS224, Sam had met a few other Civilian scientists, and as scientists do, they mused about their work and recent discoveries. A small Vulcan woman was particularly interested in the research work from the fossilized egg Sam had found on Kydon. She agreed to share her findings if the woman also shared her research from an asteroid found outside of the Celendi Nebula.
When they exchanged their research, the Vulcan woman was kind enough to even supply Sam with a small batch of samples to look at. Her first stop after coming into possession of the samples, was to head straight for the lab.
It was a relatively quiet day and most of the Science Center was void of other personnel and she was locked-in on her research, so when the voice came from behind her it startled her just a bit.
Munro: Where do I get one of those t-shirts?
Sam looked down at her shirt, it was plain black with the word ARTEMIS across the front in bold red letters.
Richards: Oh! There’s a little souvenir shop in the Second Promenade that has some. ::Shrugging and rubbing her belly:: It fit so I felt inclined to get it. ::Beat:: Do I know you?
The blonde woman was a tad bit taller than Sam, but had an authoritative vibe that made her almost intimidating.
Munro: :: extends a hand :: Aca Munro, the new XO. I’m sorry we haven’t had a chance to meet until now.
That explained it. Sam anxiously chewed at the inside of her cheek. She knew there would be a new XO since Talos had taken a step away from Starfleet. She wasn’t sure what to expect, but whatever it was, this woman surely fit the bill.
Richards: ::Accepting the handshake:: Samantha Richards. Civilian Scientist. Pleasure to meet you.
The new XO looked at the table behind Sam.
Munro: I hope I’m not disturbing your experiment?
Richards: No, no! Not at all. This is just a little something for fun.
Munro: Response
Sam vaguely gestured behind her.
Richards: Oh, just some research swapping with some fellow scientists on 224. Asteroids and such.
She knew better than to overly explain research to an unsuspecting victim, so she tried to keep things light.
Munro: Response
Richards: So, you out just getting a feel for the ship before we head out again? How are things so far?
She sucked at small talk, but she gave it a valiant effort to not be too awkward.
