((Yem-tukh Nar-tor’i, Second Promenade, DS224))
The staff of the Vulcan restaurant were quick to come and collect the dishes away from the Lt Commanders’ table after they had finished. Once the waitstaff had vanished to the backdoors, Jovenan turned back to her company. The meal was over, and they would likely continue to their respective ways, but she wanted to ask one more thing before the two fellow officers left.
Jovenan: If I may still ask one personal question, how are you planning to spend the rest of the shore leave? Do you have any interesting hobbies, or will you be meeting with someone here?
Dakora: Me? I really just plan on taking it easy after these past few missions. ::His face lit up as he recalled something:: Oh! But I'd like to hit up our old friend Gabe Osuna for some holodeck surfing. He's still around here somewhere! How about you?
Jovenan opened her mouth as if to say “oh, right” and then smiled. She hadn’t spent much time with Lt Osuna when he had been the chief of security on the Artemis, but she could believe Talos and him having becoming friends in that time. She then turned to Commander Salkath.
Salkath: The engineering chief has asked me to arrange for project allocation in the department, but other than that, I am not certain. Meditation, surely, and familial obligations. ::they both looked expectantly to Jovenan:: And yourself, Commander?
Jovenan: I’ll be continuing my tour around the station. I think I’ll at least go and check out the arboretum later. It’d imagine it is much larger than what we have on the Artemis. And… I’d like to meet up with, um, some other crewmembers later, but nothing has come up yet.
Jovenan didn’t want to admit that she had wanted to see Vitor, specifically, so she had to divert, however inelegantly, the sentence to a direction that would the least raise suspicions. It had proven difficult to control her emotions when thinking about him, and as she had heard said, the Edo were often exceptionally easy to read for empaths and telepaths, which both her companions technically were. She expected either of the two to ask further questions, but to her relief, Talos clasped his hands and moved on.
Dakora: Well that all sounds like fun. ::He cast a furtive glance at the maitre’d who kept glaring in their direction.:: but I think we'd better clear out before they forcibly eject us for inefficient use of dining space.
Talos laughed, and Jovenan joined in with a smile, but he also shared a look with Commander Salkath that made Jovenan wonder if he was being serious after all.
Salkath: They would not be so brazen, but yes, loitering after a meal is uncommon. Shall we depart?
Jovenan: I suppose so, unless you want to spend some more time?
Talos pushed back from the table and bowed his head to them lightly.
Dakora: Thank you– both of you– for a great lunch! But I should probably get back and knock out some of that PADDwork backlog before I have any more fun.
Jovenan: Well then. Thank you. ::nods to both of them:: It was fun spending time with you and learning a bit more about you.
They stood up. Commander Salkath permitted her to precede him out of the restaurant and back to the hustle of the promenade. Outside, she stopped for a moment and turned to face the two other officers before they’d part their ways.
Salkath: My thanks again for allowing me to join. May the remainder of your visit to the station be fruitful.
Dakora: Enjoy the rest of your shoreleave!
Jovenan waved a hand as a goodbye to Talos who was already walking away, and then to Commander Salkath, before turning away as well and continuing her tour. She supposed she could see some more of the Second Promenade before heading to the first one and check out the arboretum there. Maybe it would be a bit quieter and help her relax, although the shared meal had helped her forget all the stress and other troubling thoughts for a moment. If nothing else, she had gained a closure to the question about accessing the files before the Frontier Day and learnt that Commander Salkath was, despite her reaction to that suggestion back then, a good person who could very well become her friend.
