(( Elevate Platform, Upper Section - Secret Compound, Surface of Moric (Moon of Galaris VI) ))

Vef-Lai had lost many battles in his lifetime. It was part of war. Loss, death, chaos, and pain. All of it he was intimate with and each time it made him stronger. This was no different. He saw that his own eagerness had walked him into a small defeat.

Hadn't he known that the smuggler would betray him? Yes, he knew it from the moment he had met him but he kept the fool alive because he knew that he didn't understand the ways of these Starfleet and for that matter the Orion that had been so … kind.

Kindness was not part of war. He thought them fools as well and he thought that one day he'd destroy them too.

Kindness

He was beginning to see that he had been a fool all this time. They had shown him the path to everything he had ever wanted and in turn he had ignored his own instincts.

Kindness, in war, was a deception. A cowards tactic but a tactic nonetheless. Vef-Lai may have been formidable in size but he was able to move quickly.

He dropped from the elevated platforms with ease. By the time that he had gotten to the lower portion, he had gathered most of his men that had been displaced - he had sent various teams into the compound to locate the prisoners. Truth was he didn't care what they did, he just didn't want them to sabotage his weapons.

He then turned to his adjutant.

Vef-Lai: Something on the planet is interfering with the Bloodcurse. Ready the ships. And open a communication with our friends the Orion.

A sly smile spread across his face. The Orion thought of him as a fool … that he may have been but Vef-Lai did not get to be Grand Marshall and now Supreme Ruler without contingency planning.

The Orion may have supplied him with the means to create the Bloodcurse … an act of kindness. But Vef-Lai had never been kind, not even in the birthing pools. He had always been vicious. When they were being kind, he had poisoned the ship's water… he figured that one day he would have a use for the Bloodcurse against the Orion.

That day had now come.

The adjutant returned with the communication device extended towards Vef-Lai.

Orion: =/\= Supreme Ruler Vef-Lai we are glad to hear that you are well, Starfleet have a way of interference that complicates matters =/\=

Vef-Lai: This interference is becoming bothersome but it will hardly matter when I return to Kydon as Supreme Ruler and demand they leave. Did you not tell us of the Prime Directive?

Orion: =/\= Yes … we have already demanded they leave the - =/\=

Vef-Lai interrupted. He had no intention of allowing the Orion to control the narrative. He was in charge. He was Supreme Ruler. And he would have the entirety of Kydon on their knees before him by day's end. Or they'd feel the kiss of the Bloodcurse.

Either way, he wins.

Vef-Lai: I thank you for your kindness. I shall launch my ships now.

Vef-Lai nodded towards the adjutant who ended the communication. Vef-Lai made haste to the window … he could see the ship move towards the Starfleet vessel. Fighting amongst themselves. Good, it was an adequate distraction for him and he could launch his ships and deliver his terror to Kydon personally. A new era of war would be born.

Before they could do this, there was an enormous explosion above them. He felt the suction of the decompression, all around him chaos rained. Metal sheets of platforms fell, sparks and flames burst from walls. He saw his men torn in half, a Grunden soldier was sucked into space when a portion of the compounds wall exploded.

Vef-Lai, instinctively, had been running towards the elevator shaft. It was only good fortune that he hadn't been killed. He and two others were the only ones that had made it. His trusted adjutant was sucked out into space along with the debris as the shafts door closed. Not that Vef-Lai would give him another thought.

He was just one of many that had fallen in war.

(( Docking Bay - Secret Compound, Surface of Moric (Moon of Galaris VI) ))

As the elevator descended into the bowels of the compound the violent shakes seemed to stop. Once the doors to the shaft they were in opened they revealed a large docking bay, unlike the rest of the compound this section had been cut into the moon itself. Walls of dark grey polished moon stone glimmered back at him. He was overjoyed to see that the seven enormous Kydonian Vessels were still there.

He had the satisfaction that they hadn't entrusted that smuggler with the knowledge that this even existed - he wouldn't be able to tell Starfleet. Of course that was if they were even alive.

He was more concerned about his weapons. He looked at the large ships and smiled. At least they had weapons.

Kobyar Engineer: Supreme Ruler :: bows his head :: We heard -

Vef-Lai: Never mind about that.

The Engineer appeared to fret a little before he turned to the ships.

Kobyar Engineer: The last of the modifications have been installed, Supreme Ruler.

Vef-Lai: Prepare to launch.

As the engineer practically hopped away from him, he turned to one of his fellow survivors. He straightened up as he realised he was the focus of the Supreme Ruler.

Vef-Lai: Destroy the moon :: laughs manically::
