(( In Space - Laoi System, Minos Korva Sector, Alpha Quadrant ))
Sadar: R-Right... Uhh... Do so before we get closer to the star. We don’t want to accidentally tamper with the sensor readings by upsetting the star’s magnetic fields with weapons fire.
Gnai: Response
Imril: Maybe we should turn up the windshield tinting while we’re at it?
Morgan: ::nodding:: I’d appreciate that.
The windows dimmed, and the temperature cooled courtesy of Cheif Vailani.
Silveira: There you go Doc Morgan
Gnai: Response
Morgan: What kind of samples are we looking for, boss?
Sadar: B-B-B-Boss!? ::scrambles to twist anxiety ring:: Uhh-
Not that Imril needed a reminder to call The Doctor Doctor, but her reaction to being called Boss served as such.
Vailani: ::reassuring :: I’m sure he just wants a reminder of the mission parameters, Gila-net.
Sadar: W-Well- We start with the array testing? ::locks eyes with Silveira::, then the, uhh, sensor sweeps of the inner corona? ::looks pointedly to Gnai:: And then we, uhh, do a parabolic orbit around the star, and head for Laoi V to gather the biological samples, and take a recess to test the condition of the sensors after the close proximity to the sunstar.
Doctor Sadar counted her fingers before looking towards the group.
Sadar: Did I miss anything?
Imril: Not that I can tell. Barring sudden need for repairs.
Gnai: response
Silveira: Do you need me to change course for the array testing?
Vailani: Yes, I’ll send the coordinates to your console.
Silveira: Roger that. ::He grinned as he turned to some of the others.:: Captain Sadar, what’s the next action?
Sadar: Sil-net!
Zoyara threw the tactical officer an annoyed look.
Gnai/Morgan: Response
Silveira: Well, to all intents and purposes you are leading the mission, Captain Sadar.
Sadar: I, bu- Tha- That’s not-!
Silveira smiled, raising his hands apologetically.
Silveira: Sorry my dear friend, but I couldn’t resist. But truly you're coordinating our work, so to me you're in charge.
Gnai/Morgan: Response
Vailani: :: to Silveira :: Maybe your energy would be better spent making sure we don’t fly into the corona of a star.
Sadar: Just, let’s get on with the testing.
Imril chose to remain silent amid the re-rising tensions. Eyes on their console, fingers at the ready to divert power to a system or provide some other adjustment that would keep the ship on task for its various objectives. Soon enough the pilot reported a status update,
Silveira: Orbit complete.
Gnai/Morgan: Response
Imril: Metaphasic shields holding. Hull integrity in the green. Sensors functioning as expected.
Sadar: Excellent. Now, set a course for-
Vailani: We’re receiving a hail from the administrator of Laoi III - Bim Pend - it’s marked as urgent?
Sadar: Oh, uhh... P-Patch it through? ::brief pause:: =/\= This is the USS Galaktoboureko. How can we help you, Administrator? =/\=
Bim Pend: =/\= About bloody time you Starfleet types got here. It’s typical - can’t be bothered to show up to fix our stuff, but as soon as we start getting things done ourselves, you fly on by, all willy-nilly! =/\=
Was a Tellerite complaining about needing someone to ‘fix their stuff.’? Had the shuttle solar-slingshotted itself into another reality while Imril wasn’t looking? One where Tellarites didn’t loudly and proudly declare themselves the best engineers in two Quadrants?
Sadar: =/\= I... I-I’m sorry? =/\=
Bim Pend: =/\= I don’t need none of your fogey apologies, I need you to get planetside pronto and help us deal with this damnable wreck that’s frying our computers worse than a bad Sunday roast! =/\=
Silveira: I think we should help.
Gnai/Morgan: Response
Vailani: What did he mean by wreck?
Imril: We’ll have to get closer to that planet if we want to find out. All this solar radiation is interfering with long-range scanners.
Sadar/Bim Pend: Response
Silveira turned and tapped in the controls stabilizing the shuttle.
Silveira: We need more information.:: Vitor tapped a few controls and spoke loudly so that he could be heard over the comline:: =/\= Administrator Bim Pend, this is Lieutenant Silveira can you give us more details please. Is it safe to land? Do you have a place that need’s us more urgently?
Bim Pend: =/\= Response
Gnai/Morgan: Response
Sadar: Response
Bim Pend: =/\= Response
Gnai/Morgan: Response
Vailani: It may just be a system malfunction. I’m sure that myself and Ensign Imril could be of use. Given the radiation from the star :: looks to Silveira nervously :: We would need to land the shuttle.
Imril: I’m happy to help. A distress call is a distress call.
Imril: .oO(Even if it’s a rude one.)Oo.
Silveira: You all know my vote, I think we should help. And obviously send a message to any other ship around.
Vailani nodded from her console.
Vailani: It would take four days for the nearest ship to get here.
That fact alone as good as confirmed that it was the crew of the Galaktoboureko who would be providing aid.
Sadar: Response
Bim Pend: =/\= Response
Gnai/Morgan: Response
