((Sickbay, Deck 7- USS Artemis))
In the chaos of sickbay, Sam had been briefly considering running off and coming back later, that was until the tall Andorian appeared seemingly out of nowhere. In his possession was Copurrnicus. Sam’s cat.
Richards: Why do you have my cat?
Bancroft: Is there-
The doctor was cut off as he sidestepped out of the way of a nurse rushing through the already chaotic room.
Bancroft: lIs there something wrong with the cat? Is it injured?
Sam hoped for Tho’Bi’s sake, that there wasn’t even a single hair harmed on Copurrnicus.
Tho’Bi: :: looking around :: Erm… :: dry swallow :: We ha- had to beam the cat to the bridge. :: looking around ::
In the chaos of the sickbay, she tried to keep herself in check. It was more difficult than she imagined. Her grip tightened on Copurrnicus, who was now resting on top of Sam’s belly.
Richards: Tho’Bi. Explain yourself. Why was my cat on the bridge?
Tho’Bi: As part of a combat maneuver :: beat :: Artemis shields collided with the shields of an Orion Destroyer.
It wasn’t really an answer. Not one that explained how, or why.
Bancroft: ::dryly, with a raised brow:: Should we not, for the sake of medical triage, begin with the question of why there's currently a cat in sickbay?
Sam looked between Copurrnicus and Bancroft, wondering if they also thought Tho’Bi was out of his mind. She took a large step towards Tho’Bi, looking up at him with her eyebrows furrowed.
Richards: Are you insane?
Tho’Bi: No! :: steadies mood :: the shield collision caused our EPS network to overheat. :: beat:: when venting plasma failed to cool the network ::beat:: I vented half of decks two and six into space.
Through the Engineering nonsense, Sam self confirmed– Tho’Bi was insane.
Bancroft: ::flipping open his medical tricorder and scanning Tho’Bi:: I’m not reading any unusual-
Richards: I don’t need a doctor to tell me that he ::jabbing her finger into Tho’Bi’s shoulder:: has lost his damn mind!
Maybe she was coming on a bit too strong and the logical part of her knew she was but the anger and frustration from the entire day had her on edge, and the poor Andorian had been the straw that broke the pregnant camel's back.
Tho’Bi: :: breathless exasperated :: It was the only way to save the ship ::voice things out ::and beaming the cat to the bridge :: shaky inhale exhale :: was the only way to save the cat.
As if on cue, Copurrnicus slapped the tricorder out of Roy’s hand, as a show of annoyance just for it existing. Sam watched the device hit the deck, but as pregnant as she was, when something was that far down, she pretended it just didn’t exist anymore. A logic only understood by anyone who could no longer see their feet thanks to one or two tiny beings co-existing within them.
Thankfully, the cat's disregard for everything happening around her helped soften Sam’s irritation.
Bancroft: ::bending down to retrieve the tricorder:: Look, all I’m saying is, if this becomes some sort of hostage crisis, the cat has seniority. I will not be negotiating.
Sam took a step back from Tho’Bi and took a few grounding deep breaths.
Richards: Thank you for keeping her safe Tho’Bi. ::beat:: I’m still mad… but thank you.
The tall Andorian slipped the rucksack off of his shoulders and held it out to Sam. She raised a curious eyebrow waiting for an explanation.
Tho’Bi: This is blast and shock proof :: nods at cat :: she emptied all the Engineering Tools out and took it for her own.
Copurrnicus jumped off of Sam, using her belly as a springboard to dive into the rucksack that Tho’Bi was now holding open. An affirmative meow was let out in Sam’s direction, she couldn’t help but smile.
Richards: ::To the cat:: At least you know how to find a safe place.
Bancroft: Response
Tho’Bi: :: looking down at the cat :: I think this belongs to the little one now.
He held out the bag to Sam, who took it and stood awkwardly for a moment.
Richards: I would argue with you, but I think Cop would agree. ::Shrugging:: It’s hers now.
Bancroft: Response
Sam had carefully slung the bag onto her shoulders, Copurrnicus adjusted herself, front paws on her mom, back paws still in the bag, scanning the area for her next victim.
Upon realizing the chaos of the room, Copurrnicus nestled into Sam’s neck and let out a soft meow.
Richards: I think I should probably get her out of here. ::Turning to Roy:: Don’t get your teal shoulders in a twist, she’s going.
Bancroft: Response.
Before heading towards the exit of the Sickbay, Sam turned to Tho’Bi.
Richards: You kept her safe, and I appreciate that.
Tho’Bi/Bancroft: Response
The soft sounds of purring radiated from the bag on Sam’s back.
Richards: Next time, give me a heads up before you bring her on a tour of the ship. ::Gesturing to Roy:: I think the Doc here might actually combust if she shows up here again.
Tho’Bi/Bancroft: Response
She walked out, leaving behind the vomit-covered doctor and the cat savior Andorian, but taking with her Copurrnicus and her new favorite transportation device. The rucksack.
