((Bridge, Deck 1 - USS Artemis))

With her service on Earth Spacedock completed, the commanding officer of the Artemis found herself back in the place she’d felt most at home – in the center chair. Things were far from normal, but they were all doing their best to get back into their respective routines. For Addison, being able to sit in the captain’s chair cradling a mug of coffee in her hands while conversing with her first officer without worrying about death being around the corner was a good place to start. Behind them, the turbolift came to a halt and the sound of footsteps could be heard. It took a while for her to not jump every time the doors opened.

Approaching the command chairs, Commander Salkath cleared his throat to announce his presence and, as was ever the Vulcan way, began to get right to business.

Salkath: Captain, Commander. The damage reports you requested.

She pursed her lips slightly as the Vulcan tried to sort through the plethora of PADDs without dropping them.

MacKenzie: ::pointing at Salkath, but talking to Talos:: Don’t just sit there, give him a hand.

Dakora: response

Salkath: ::juggling the PADDs:: The reports are extensive. Perhaps we could adjourn to your ready room? ::quick correction:: Or the conference room, I mean?

Addison could feel her jaw tighten. The ready room, understandably, was not high priority for the damage control teams… much to her disdain. She attempted to summon all the patience she could, though it was admittedly in short supply these days.

MacKenzie: Sure. ::gesturing:: Hopefully that room is still intact…

She eyed their first officer.

Dakora: response

Salkath carefully shifted the PADDs so that he had enough free arm room to be able to suggest that the senior officers go first. Addison stood, leading the others the direction of the conference room. Behind her, she could hear the clinking of the PADDs knocking together as the Vulcan engineer walked.

The doors to the conference room swished opened and Addison nodded sarcastically, as though she was surprised the room was still suitable for use. She took her seat at the head of the table while Salkath spread the PADDs out across the table. Talos, intuitive (and telepathic) enough to pick up on Addison’s sour mood decided to lead the inquisition.

Dakora: response

Salkath: Yes, sir. ::flicking through the reports::  Ahem. The primary comms array junction still needs a complete rebuild. As does the secondary sensor control room in the pod. The port ventral phaser array is still inoperable, and there are various small hull breaches along the array on deck 17. The main shuttlebay needs extensive maintenance after explosive decompression and a crashed shuttle across the deck plating. Somehow, the upper computer core sustained blast damage. ::this one was particularly irksome to Salkath, and it likely showed on his face::  We are fortunate that critical systems were not irreparably disrupted by that. Numerous consoles, panels, and hatches throughout the ship. Shipwide EPS issues. Oh. And one more... a hull breach on deck one...

When the Vulcan peeked a raised eyebrow over the top of his upraised PADD, the icy blue eyes of the captain were there ready to meet his.

MacKenzie: You don’t say?

Dakora: response

Salkath: As is to be expected, we are far down the list for access to space dock facilities throughout the Sol sector. All considering the state of the fleet, we were fortunate. Whatever repairs we can effect ourselves, we will have to do. It will take time.

MacKenzie: I’m wondering how long you think it might take if we try to sort out the bulk of the repairs ourselves? We fared far better than most, thankfully.

Salkath: ::an uncharacteristic shrug:: We cannot hazard a guess. Proportionate to the crew, the engineering department is suffering from widespread physical and emotional trauma, not to mention sheer exhaustion. Those of us who remain on active duty are stretched thin.

Dakora: response

Salkath: Compile a priority list, and we will ensure that repair crews tackle them as efficiently as they can. ::pause:: However, if I may be so bold, I would suggest you entreat Command to place the Artemis on an extended break from active duty. We need time. And I would not be surprised if my department wasn't the first to suggest this need.

MacKenzie
: I’m going to be honest, we’re not going anywhere for a while. Certainly not out of the system, let alone out of the quadrant and back to the Borderlands. I think we should also rotate small leave opportunities for the crew… Commander?

Dakora/Salkath
: response

She nodded affirmatively.

MacKenzie: Great, let’s do that. How does that potentially impact our repair time, assuming we won’t get any help from Starfleet?

Dakora/Salkath: response

Addison rocked her head back and forth. It wasn’t great, but it could have been worse. There was something else that crossed her mind.

MacKenzie: I’m wondering if there are other ships in the vicinity with whom we could pool resources – both personnel and technical – to see if we can all get up and running a little faster…

Dakora/Salkath: response

Tag, and TBC!
