Alyndra sighed. To her, Akira classes weren’t warships, they were her home. The Ronin certainly never felt like a battleship neither. Not just because it was nearly destroyed on her very first mission, but because of it’s charm. The 47 with it’s holographic cherry trees, it’s Zen gardens. The Warp Core!

Syrex: Well, if you ever want a tour feel free to stop by! Although I admit there may be closer Akira classes. I must say however, that I find seeing the Akira class as nothing more than a battleship somewhat problematic.

Imril: I didn’t say that it was ‘just’ a battleship. Though clearly I caused offense with my word choice.

Alyndra frowned.

Syrex: because that’s my house. It’s my home, it’s where my family are. We aren’t soldiers. We’re Starfleet, we’re explorers.

Imril: I agree wholeheartedly. And one of the things which makes Starfleet the best at exploration is that we’re constantly innovating. There’s always something new to learn from our sister-ships and the people who operate them. I’m not particularly enraptured with the weapons and such on an Akira, myself. More the robust energy systems built into the class from their start. Power management happens to be my specialization. Not warfare.

Syrex: I don’t care for the implications of what something was designed to do. I care more for what it is capable of. I understand that you’re an engineer and are used to seeing the world in a mechanical sense, but I’m sure you know what the Artemis is capable of. In a sense other than the specifications listed on a PADD, am I right?

The ensign seemed to studder on their own breath for a moment. Clearly regretting his choice of words, as much of a mistake and misunderstanding it may have been on both sides.

Imril: Yes, you are. I apologize.

Syrex: Yes, well let’s forget about the whole thing and move on shall we?

Alyndra smiled warmly at Imril.

Imril: So then, what’s the Ronin really like? As a community? What would I find there that I wouldn’t find on any other ship?

Syrex: Well, the crew are my family. And as our Terran Japanese name may hint, we have quite a lot of cultural Terran things onboard.

Imril: Response

Alyndra sat up in her lounger, positioning her feet justly so that she wouldn’t slide back down the wood. Since she was beginning to have a proper conversation, she stopped the stream to her eye through manipulating her implant through her heads epithelial layer.

Syrex: We have the Zen Garden, we have a lounge dedicated to Japanese food. I’d be full of shame if I neglected to mention the 47 Lounge. A three story bar with beautiful holographic cherry trees- a native plant to the Earth Japan-region.

Imril: Response

Syrex: What about the Artemis? I’ve not been on many Luna classes, she’s my first. What do you think of the class? What do you think of her crew?

Imril: Response
