((Gymnasium, Deck 4 - USS Artemis-A))
Talos dropped onto the bench, tossing a towel around his neck and taking a long pull from his water bottle. Genkos popped his left leg up next to his beaten colleague, and began to massage the stiff muscles. Even if they were biosynthetic, they still seemed to seize up when he did harsh exercise.
Adea: What about you? How’s your love life going?
Dakora: ::He coughed into his water bottle at the comment.:: I guess you haven’t talked to MacKenzie, then?
Genkos raised an eyebrow… was Dackenzie finally coming to fruition?
Dakora: I’ve actually been seeing someone for a while now. Started after Frontier Day last year.
Genkos played it cool, and casually pushed back a curl of his hair, acting like he wasn’t really that fussed. Inside, however, he was a bundle of nerves.
Adea: Oh, really? What’s her name?
Talos leaned forward a bit, capping his water and wiping the sweat off his face with one side of his towel. Genkos didn’t appreciate the pause, not one bit - he was on the tenterist-of-hooks.
Dakora: Samantha Richards? Not sure if you met her. She was part of that Amity bunch that hitched a ride with us. ::He waved his hand.:: Either way, you’ll meet her soon enough. She’s joining the crew as a civilian auxiliary scientist.
Genkos’ disappointment was immeasurable, and his day was ruined… Well, not quite, but he was still a little miffed. He’d been rooting for Talos and Addison for what felt like years.
Adea: Name rings a vague bell, but not sure I actually met her… but she’s coming on board?
He shrugged, turning to Genkos, who had a feeling Talos must really care for this woman. It was something in the eyes when he spoke about her - it was nice to see in the man.
Dakora: Yeah, it kinda feels like a big step… but then again… not really, considering she’s pregnant. Kind of an in for ‘one strip, in for the full bar’ situation, you know?
Genkos spluttered a little, coughing up a little of the uttaberry juice he’d been swigging on when Talos had dropped the plasma torpedo that this girlfriend of Talos’ was also pregnant.
Adea: She’s pregnant?! How… ::he laughed:: Well, obviously, I’m a doctor, I know how, but… how?
Dakora: It’s a cautionary tale not to let your injection date slip just because sickbay is under wartime conditions. You never know when you might need it. ::He screwed up his face as he realized what he’d just said.:: Or maybe that’s just a me problem…
Genkos lightly slapped the man on what he realised too late was quite a sweaty back.
Adea: I don’t suppose you’re the first, but I don’t suppose you’ll be the last at that.
Dakora: Response
Genkos sat down next to his friend and stretched out both his legs in front of him.
Adea: So you’re making a go of it, ey? Good for you. What’s she like?
Dakora: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
