(( The Bridge - Deck 01 - USS Artemis-A))
Munro: For running? Decent running shoes, a heart monitor, and enthusiasm. :: her eyes drifted to the console :: You were a signals analyst before, when you were in the intelligence department?
Ava, in her time at Starfleet Command Operations, had dealt with some of the Intelligence folks. Always so serious, and especially self important. For a bunch of analysts that essentially reviewed data all day long they really had some grandiose notions; maybe it was deep seated resentment that it was never as exciting as that one, dumb, holo movie made it out to be.
She didn't really get that vibe from Więcek though. She figured there was more to his story, she knew that from his file but there was always the details that weren't kept on file. Those tend to be the more dangerous.
Więcek: Aye, Commander. Signals Intelligence Specialist, actually. Picking through encrypted and obfuscated signals to figure out what was relevant was my day-to-day back then. ::He flashed her a grin.:: But flying is my true love.
Ava smiled and relaxed a little.
Munro: My mother always warned me about flyboys :: laughs :: Not that you'll be able to do much flying right now :: frustrated sigh ::
Ava tapped the console she was leaning on. He laughed, shaking his head.
Więcek: Just my luck, I finally get a posting where I have helm duties, and we're being held in orbit indefinitely. ::He pointed to the helm console.:: But those bi-hourly orbital adjustment burns? Absolutely immaculate.
Munro: When I was a cadet, I almost crashed the shuttle on my final exam for PILOT101. The professor made me do burns in Earth's orbit for three days to make my grade up :: shakes her head :: I got a B, so it was worth it. But that was the longest three days of my life.
The HCO officer turned to face his console.
Więcek: Speaking of... ::He laid in his burn sequence with a series of precise taps.:: We're about due for one... ::He triggered the minuscule 2.4-second thruster burn.:: Now.
He definitely made it sound more impressive than it was.
Munro: :: sarcastic :: Exciting. I can't wait for the next one.
Grinning sheepishly, Aleks shrugged.
Więcek: It was harder than it looked...
Munro: I'm hoping that's not the most impressive thing I see from you, Więcek? Because that would be incredibly disappointing.
Ava stood up and towered over the Lieutenant.
Więcek: Response
Munro: In that case, I'll be expecting big things from you.
Without another word she quickly moved over to the Tactical station as she went on her rounds. Crewman Vasquella eagerly ran through tactical data and preparedness. She glanced back to take in Więcek again. She had begun to think there might be more to him than meets the eye.
Więcek: Response
