(( Primary Sickbay - Deck 7, USS Artemis-A ))
Lieutenant Junior Grade Yesfir Meyers was many things - blunt, hard-working, obstinate, stubborn, reliable and inventive were some descriptive terms that may be used about her, and had been so in numerous work-place evaluations throughout her life - but one more such thing was punctual. And not just in the sense that she was never late. She was also never early.
It was standard professional courtesy, especially on a Starfleet starship. Yesfir herself had her day planned out meticulously to ensure that she could reach the day’s goals with a little time to spare, for she had never had a day of working on the Artemis-A that didn’t involve some kind of hazardous delay to one or more of the work projects she’d been assigned to. Once, soon after she graduated the Academy, a ship-wide takeover by Jem’Hadar (after the Artemis had been transported through time to the Dominion War) had delayed their work for several hours, and it had taken weeks for her to catch up with the backlog so she could keep her deadline. Nevertheless, she never committed more time than was necessary, and she most certainly didn’t finish a project ahead of time.
If she accelerated a timetable without due notice, she may unintentionally cause a major shift in someone else’s schedule for the day, forcing them to move around their appointments, or worse, force them to exit ‘the zone’ to handle her premature arrival.
She was, however, painfully aware that not all shared her extreme adherence to the concept of ‘be on time’, as was apparent when a static computer voice rang out from behind her as she was working through some extra work that Gila Sadar had foisted onto her recently. She was unclear why Doctor Bancroft had earned the dubious honor of having all his work double-checked before it was logged, or why she’d been the one to earn that extra chore, but it was done, and the order had been given.
Gnai: Doctor Meyers?
Yesfir had to remind herself to not sigh loudly at the interruption.
oO ‘Your patients rely on you in their most vulnerable moment, Cadet Meyers. You must learn patience.’ Oo
Meyers: You’re two minutes early, Lieutenant Gnai.
Yesfir tried to keep the accusation out of her voice, but perhaps because she was too self-conscious of it, she didn’t feel like she succeeded that well. She paused her work with Doctor Bancroft’s logs as she turned in her seat to observe the hulking exosuit standing before her. She would be lying if she said she hadn’t been looking forward to this appointment when it was reassigned to her - she had precious few opportunities to render medical aid to non-humanoids - but the premature arrival had dimmed that excitement a little.
Perhaps because it sensed her displeasure, Lieutenant Gnai flashed in mild colors. Yesfir hadn’t had enough exposure to the Galadoran to accurately interpret its emotional displays, but she knew enough that this Galadoran in particular tended to express negative emotions more than not.
Gnai: This knows that it is early… But this didn’t want to miss the appointment. ::pause:: Are you free right now, or should this come back later…?
Yesfir shook her head, putting her monitoring work on pause.
Meyers: Mph... I can take your appointment now. This isn’t time-sensitive. ::grabs a PADD:: Follow me.
She rose from her seat, PADD in hand, to lead Lieutenant Gnai to one of the empty biobeds, even as it nattered on behind her.
Gnai: Thank you! ::following her, still talking the entire time:: This hasn’t had a proper medical check-up in a while, just short visits here and there, as this hasn’t seen the need, but recently this has been feeling some adverse effects from stress and whatnot on missions…
oO No proper medical check-up for more than half a year? Sounds like an avoider. Excessive talking could indicate nervousness. Its medical logs says it’s been pretty consistently using Doct- Gila Sadar as its primary physician... Nervousness, perhaps. Oo
Meyers: Please sit.
Gnai: Response
Yesfir set up the necessary instruments to run scans of the Galadoran contained within the suit, attaching the sensor attachments to the dome of the exosuit.
Meyers: What adverse effects have you been experiencing?
Gnai: Response
Meyers: Hm... And you believe these effects to be the results of stress from work? Any specific instances you feel these are more frequent?
Gnai: Response
