Vitor grinned. It looked like Tho'Bi took the bait. Vitor didn't consider himself an Andorian specialist, but he had a lot of personal experience with them. He knew a little of their culture, language, and society.
Silveira: You can't fix anything if someone is trying to break your arms. Or worse.
Tho'Bi: ::quietly nodding:: That is true.
oO Interesting. Oo
Ensign Tho’Bi reply sparked even more Vitor's curiosity.
But there was another reason for him to call on the Andorian Engineer.
Silveira: I called you to be sure you can defend yourself. You may want to just fix things, but if you haven't realized that you don't always get what you want, maybe it's time to learn. Besides, the Artemis Engineering department has to keep up with the Renirs Effect. Because of that I have selected you to a brief sparring match. ::he gestured to the floor.:: I have everything ready.
Tho'Bi: ::quiet uneven:: I’m not really dressed for combat, Sir.
Vitor tipped his head. He was pushing, and Tho'Bi reaction was tempting him to push further.
Silveira: No excuses Ensign. Crewman Renirs used a hyperspanner to defend herself and stop an invading party. In defending yourself you're defending your comrades.
Tho’Bi nodded. He took off his tunic and rolled up his sleeves, mimicking Vitor’s appearance.
Tho'Bi: Eh… okay.
Vitor stepped sideways as he looked for Tho’Bi’s posture. He stepped on the mattress and pointed to the round circle.
Silveira: The purpose of the exercise is to have your opponent outside the circle.
Tho’Bi stepped in and Vitor shifted his weight from one foot to the other, swinging slightly.
Silveira: You're attacking.
That caught him off guard. It was the start of a lesson.
Tho'Bi: ::unsure:: Sir?
Silveira: I told you we don’t always get what we want. When ready Ensign, I am all yours.
Tho’Bi nodded as Vitor took position. Turning to the side, raising his arms to cover the body, and flexing slightly his legs.
Tho’Bi’s posture wasn’t exactly what was on the manual, but unexpectedly to Vitor it was close enough.
He started moving closer, trying a quick series of long legged strides.
The blows were somewhat predictable. If he had managed to land them properly Tho’Bi would give Vitor a round for his effort.
Vitor blocked them and stepped back, getting closer to the edge of the line.
Silveira: See… That’s a good start…
Tho’Bi: response
He winked at Tho’Bi and quickly closed the gap, trying to get closer and also aiming at the Andorian torso, with a quick succession of punches.
Vitor didn’t force too much as he wanted to see how Tho’Bi reacted.
Silveira: You're better than you think Tho’Bi. ::Tho’Bi had resisted his counter attack :: Again, take the offensive.
Tho’Bi: response
This time Vitor didn’t wait for his strike. The same moment that Tho’Bi moved, Vitor also went on the offensive, sweeping his leg to try and trip the Andorian. Legs and arms clashed as Vitor slid back.
Silveira: Nice… Trust me when I tell you that we should fear the less trained and skilled opponent. That makes him unpredictable.
Tho’Bi: response
