(( Cockpit of the USS Galaktoboureko - Main Shuttlebay, Deck 11, USS Artemis-A ))

((( OOC: I have left tags for everyone from the very beginning, but feel free to hop in wherever you'd feel like you can slot in. Except for you, Vailani, you're stuck with your tag :P )))

The bay doors of the USS Galaktoboureko swung open silently, being an audible evidence of the high quality of the Artemis’ engineering department. The Galaktoboureko had recently undergone an experimental upgrade which should - in theory - allow their sensors to read radiation and energy bands that were usually beyond the capabilities of ordinary ship sensors. It was an interesting research project, one that Gila had studied cursorily since the possibility of an excursion to test the sensor upgrade had been mentioned on the duty roster, and quite fortuitously, a nearby system was characterized by a star which emitted a very peculiar kind of radiation.

A perfect testing ground for the new sensors, and the Laoi system had other elements to it that warranted a survey visit. It’s position in the vicinity of the old DMZ meant that it hadn’t been the site of many Starfleet expeditions due to the tense political climate in the area, but as things had calmed slightly as of yet, especially due to the efforts of Starfleet to assist with the rebuilding of Cardassia Prime, Starfleet expeditions to the sector had gotten more frequent.

Gila was uncharacteristically chipper as she entered the shuttle, carrying an armful of PADDs with her. Most of the data on the Laoi system was out-of-date, so most of the data they had to work from was pure conjecture. There was a Federation colony in the system - on Laoi III - but they were one of those colonies that had been practically abandoned by the Federation during the Dominion war, so communication between the colony and the government was scarce at best. But at least it was a good indicator that the radiation produced by the system’s sun wasn’t harmful to Federation species, since it was safe to construct a colony there.

Placing her many PADDs on a nearby console, she started running the pre-flight checks, as she heard footsteps echo up the ramp. She looked over curiously, awaiting the other members of the survey team.

Imril/Morgan/Gnai/Silveira: Response

Sadar: Oh! Uhh... H-Hello. I’m sorry, I didn’t expect-

Vailani: Response

Gila’s face brightened with excitement at the familiar voice, as the Artemis’ new Chief of Operations too walked into the shuttle. Gila had heard of the transfer, of course, given that Vai-net’s medical charts had been forwarded to Sickbay ahead of her arrival, and she had been very excited to learn that Vai-net had volunteered to join the survey within days of her returning to the Artemis.

Vai-net’s work morale never ceased to impress her.

Sadar: Vai-net!

Morgan/Silveira/Vailani: Response

Imril/Gnai: Response

Sadar: Y-Yeah, we’ll be ready to take off soon. Uhh... The sensors are reading green, but maybe Ensign Imril should do a final systems check before we take off? It would be a waste to go to Laoi III only to realize something’s wrong.

Imril: Response

Morgan/Gnai/Silveira/Vailani: Response

Sadar: Well, there’s a few separate survey goals associated with our trip. ::gestures to the bunch of PADDs:: I have a project that I’m hoping to find some biological samples for, and I know the tactical department had some concerns regarding the interplay between the new sensors and the targeting arrays for the shuttle’s weapons systems?

The end of Gila’s assurances sounded more like a question, as she had to admit she hadn’t been that keyed into the inter-departmental discussion regarding the strain the new sensors would put on the shuttle itself, so she looked to Sil-net and Ensign Imril for more clarification.

Silveira/Imril: Response

Morgan/Gnai/Vailani: Response
