(( The Swoon Spoon – Deck 229, Deep Space 224 ))
MacKenzie: What are you going to have?
Richards: I think I’m going
for the Cotton Candy Class Starship. It has little star
sprinkles on top. I’m a sucker for cotton candy flavored things.
Something catch your eye Doctor?
She shrugged and locked in with her choice.
Cole: That does sound good, I still need a moment.
She swatted her hand in front of her face.
MacKenzie: Too many choices. I love raspberry, and Raspberry Riker Ripple was one of the first things I heard Samantha say, so I have to stop there.
Richards: Riker is always a
good choice if you know what I mean.
Sam let out a chuckle and nudged Natasha with a smile, causing the security officer to let out a laugh as well. It was at that moment it seemed as though the choices had been narrowed down.
Cole: I’m going to have the Warp Core Breather, though I am partial to the Nebula Swirl.
MacKenzie: Let’s do it.
The crowd near the counter
had dispersed enough that the three women were able to make their way up and
place their orders. Sam held her brightly colored pink and blue cone covered in
silver star sprinkles and gestured towards a small empty table inside the shop.
MacKenzie grabbed her cone topped with deep crimson ice cream, and Natasha with
her double scoop, and followed suit. They found a table and sat down in the
metal chairs around it.
Richards: This is pretty good.
Sprinkles leave a little something to be desired, but it’s not bad all in
all.
Cole: That is a shame, those are supposed to be the best part, next to whipped cream. ::smiling::
MacKenzie shrugged.
MacKenzie: Mine’s
pretty good. Hits the spot after that hasparat.
Sam smiled and looked up
at the other two women a bit sheepishly.
Richards: Thanks for having dinner with me. ::Gesturing to the shop:: And ice cream. It’s been nice.
The security officer
made a sound of satisfaction, no doubt the sweet sound of relief as the ice cream
quelled the fire on her taste buds.
Cole: Anytime. ::licking her cone:: This has been fun.
MacKenzie: Agreed. I always look forward to trying new food.
Cole: Plus I appreciate the opportunity to make new friends. I hope I’m not overstepping by saying that. ::glancing between the two woman::
MacKenzie held up her cone in support of the sentiment. They were still her subordinates, but the opportunity for a bit of relationship building never hurt.
Richards: Response
Over her shoulder, another crowd seemed to be forming in front of the ice cream parlor. Though it was behind her, the sudden increase in audible volume suggested that they’d timed their arrival at the opportune moment.
Cole: ::nodding towards the crowd:: Looks like we timed it just right between their rushes.
MacKenzie: ::holding up what remained of her cone in a toast-like gesture:: Our lucky day.
Richards: Response
MacKenzie continued to eat her cone, eventually chomping away at bits of the waffle cone itself until finally she popped the last bit of it in her mouth. She smiled to herself and wiped away remnants of the raspberry that had stained the corners of her mouth.
MacKenzie: That hit the spot.
Richards/Cole: Response
She sat forward in her chair.
MacKenzie: What do you two have planned for the rest of your evening?
Richards/Cole: Response
The commanding officer of the Artemis stood and smoothed the front of her slacks.
MacKenzie: Unfortunately I’ve got a few reports that need my attention before the end of the night, so this is where I take my leave. ::bowing slightly:: Thank you for the meal and the company. Next time, maybe a milder version of hasparat…
She offered a slight smirk to Ensign Cole as she wiped the corners of her mouth one more time and moved back in the direction of the Artemis.
Tag, and End Scene for MacKenzie!
